The short version is that we were totally disappointed with our stay at this hotel. It's a detailed review so if you're not interested to read it all, here's the notes.... Room was filthy and the bed looked like it had been made by a 2 year old. Staff were unfriendly and had obviously never dealt with a complaint before. They'll call you up during your stay trying to sell timeshares. They will charge you $5 delivery on room service, from the in house restaurant!
Now for the details:
The room we had requested was supposed to be a king room and we got 2 beds pushed together. The bed sheets were dirty and made so uneven and barely tucked in, we had to readjust all throughout the day and night. They don't offer a turn down service unless you stay for more than 8 nights so that's just your luck. The bin in our room had not been emptied after the previous guest, the carpet was filthy, there was dirt under the glass top of the coffee table, there was something I dont want to try and figure out what it was on the bathroom wall and the cots that were given to us were so filthy and one was even falling apart. It definitely would not have been safe for use and thankfully we were able to have it replaced. The amenities in the room were absolutely basic for the price being paid and could use an update to bring the place into 2023. Now to the customer service. We were very rarely greeted by any staff. There was one person who seemed to manage the breakfasts who was wonderful. I am so sorry that I didn't get her name because other than her, I would say the customer service was terrible. At any given time, there were at least 3 people at reception and 2 in the bar directly across. I phoned down to ask for more toilet paper and was told I needed to go down to reception to get it myself. When we checked out, I was asked how our stay was and I was honest and told the staff members that we were hugely disappointed. It seemed like they had never been trained on how to receive a complaint as they just stared blankly at me and said "I'm sorry to hear that" and then proceeded to try and make small talk about our journey home. Finally, this hotel has the audacity to charge a $5 delivery on the already extortionate room service prices from the in house restaurant downstairs. I don't think there would be any way for them to justify charging $5 to go in a lift when a local delivery doesn't even charge that much. If you have read this far then thank you, needless to say we do not under any circumstances recommend this hotel and I can safely say that the staff calling us to the room in the middle of the day to try to sell us timeshares was a...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed here for a week, we were greeted by the most loviest young Filipino receptionist, I forgot her name - who ended up going on her leave the next day so we didn’t get to see her again. When checking in we were given a room that unfortunately had already been given to someone else so we had to stay in another room that was on 16th floor - but we were confirmed for a lower floor room as I am not good with heights. So we had to wait till the next day. But because of the mixup the lovely receptionist gave us complimentary drinks and free breakfast the next day.
We were then given a new room on a lower floor next day, things were great until we noticed cockroach’s in our bathroom multiple times. I brought it up to a young white male receptionist who just said because of warm weather they will be coming out of no where.I told him we took photos if they wanted to see it, but he said it was fine - apologised, smiled and that was it. I was a little shocked and walked away. I wish I did more now or actually spoke to someone else. Also Some of the standard TV channels didn’t even work.
We moved to another room as we were suppose to check out to return back to Melbourne but unfortunately our flight got cancelled. We Couldn’t find any cheaper rooms/hotels anywhere else as our trip was ending on Schoolies week so we had to rebook with Wyndham. Third Room was facing the Hinterlands and Gold Coast Highway. Gorgeous views I must say, but the room itself was terrible. Aircon barely blew out any air - and they recently had maintenance on air cons during our stay. The apartment was so stuffy we actually had to sleep with the balcony doors open - listening to the busy Gold Coast Highway. The furniture was so dusty and worn out.
It was suppose to be the best week for us, as my partner proposed to me on Surfers Paradise beach but this hotel was maybe the lowest point of our trip. Besides the young male receptionist dismissing my concerns I think every other person we came across was lovely. The hotel is located in a great spot though, only a 10 min walk to Cavill Ave, 2 min walk to the beach. I think maybe this hotel needs to be updated or maintained properly. Maybe some retraining with customer service especially with...
Read moreThis was a tricky one to rate. We eventually had a great stay but it didn’t start off that great until we resolved a few issues. |We checked into a 2 bedroom room which at first impressions we thought was wonderful! We arrived at 9am and were surprised the room was ready and we could check in so early which was great! It was spacious, a lovely big balcony, ensuite and also another bathroom, full kitchen and a laundry. However upon further inspection we found it was grubby in places (the oven door atrocious) and a horrible smell was coming from a bathroom drain. We politely mentioned to reception and they had someone come up quickly who was very lovely and apologetic. We waited another hour and heard no more so went to reception on our way out to lunch and they said they were moving us to a new room and would call us when ready. Again, no call. |We returned from lunch to new reception staff and were given a new room. The new room was a huge step up from the previous! Not in size but cleanliness, decor - everything. It was a great apartment (room 302). Our overnight stay here was very very good! Tea and coffee facilities, laundry powder provided were added features. The only negative to this room was the air conditioner in the main room and spare could not be set lower and it was quite muggy during the night. The main bedroom had its own control so no issues there. It was middle of the night before we realised so too late to get it sorted. |Parking was free and included, easy!|Checkout was easy - although bad communication on exiting car park. |The tram stop was across the road and it’s an easy walk into Cavill or to the beach. |The bar and restaurant next to reception was lovely and we enjoyed some nice drinks at happy hour.|All up it was very good stay and we would stay again but I would be requesting the second room we stayed in as the first was much older and not...
