Reef Club Resort — Hotel in Port Douglas

Terrible experience ….you get what you pay for and by trying to go a little cheaper it ruined out holiday. Don’t stay here. Long story short….tradies turned up on our first day and we asked for the work to happen when we left..apparently the air conditioners were tripping the others and had to be done. Room was unusable for the day….we were very upset and promised cleaners would be sent after the tradesmen left….didnt happen. No realistic compensation offered….we had early flights so a late check out was not an option at the end of out stay. The cleaners never came and we were very upset with the state of the room after they left…plaster dust everywhere. When I requested our beds be remade the receptionist was shocked and eventually dumped linen in the room for us to remake all our own beds. After a busy day the next day we returned to find no cleaners had come again….when we went down the manager was very rude…threatened us with legal action if we put up a bad review and then accused us of being abusive to the staff….i tried to explain we were not but were very upset and tried to just get the room cleaned. I acknowledge we were upset but the response we received was terrible. Also reported influx cockroaches post the tradesman putting a large hole in bathroom ceiling and then trying to put a poorly fitting manhole over it. Drilling noise every morning…no lifts and no help with luggage . Manager said the tradesmen’s cleaned it and he never promised cleaners. Manager actually lied and then said he was thinking about evicting us..but if we left quietly we would be refunded the last 3 nights. Manager put his hand up to my daughters face when she also tried to explain what had happened and told to keep out of it. We are both nurses and were shocked at his behaviour and customer service skills. We reported to booking .com but management never responded . I expect a negative and nasty response as that seems to be the pattern when negative reviews are posted about this place. It seems pretty much luck of the draw if you get a poorly maintained apartment . The whole place seems poorly maintained, there was even a 2 foot tree growing in the gutter off...

Poorly maintained rooms, old furniture …small tv with one leg balanced on an upside down remote, tree growing from the gutter…on the second story! Noisy drilling sounds every morning , no lifts. Cockroaches…I was up to the toilet overnight and swear there were at least 20 baby cockroaches. Rubbish under the master bed from Easter…chocolate egg wrappings…and that was 3 months ago. Tradesmen came on the first day…replaced x 3 air conditioners without our approval…room totally unusable and the mess was terrible. Manager said cleaners would come after they left but at 4.30 pm when tradies finally left after doing what I considered a basic clean up….we were told cleaners had gone home. I was very upset and insisted at a minimum our bed linen changed…this appeared to upset the reception lady . No compensation for not being able to use the room all day offered..a late check out but we had early flights. We were later told we were abusive to her ….upset and distressed yes…but I didn’t think abusive. After a busy day next day we returned and again no cleaning done. Reception closed….went the next day and complained. Told the tradesmen cleaned the room and he didn’t say he would send cleaners . There was a large hole made in the bathroom ceiling and I said to the tradie he couldn’t leave that uncovered….other than that was nice and accomodating to them …then accused of being rude to them! The manager put his hand up to my adult daughters face and told her angrily to keep out of it when she was supporting my concerns . Manager then said because we had been abusive he threatened to evict us and threatened legal action if we wrote a bad review. First said if we keep out of his way we could stay…when I asked what that meant he then said he changed his mind and would evict us. Said if we left quietly we would be refunded last 3 night…we left and of course…no refund. Booking.con tried to communicate with the facility but no response . Rude manager …..awful...

Unclean, under the beds and couch was covered in dust, management said they clean under them once a year in a “spring clean” even though the beds are on wheels and could be easily cleaned, air conditioners did not work and if they did the filters were filthy. We had the air conditioner contractor come to our room to clean the air conditioner, and he said that the air conditioner was broken as there was a gas leak on the unit and the management was notified the week prior. They had not advised us of the broken air conditioner upon our arrival. The contractor said he wouldn’t be able to clean the air conditioner as it was broken and would not work anyway due to the gas leak. Management was notified of this, and they said it would not be fixed during our stay. There were cockroaches in the kitchen and bathroom, broken electrical sockets, the light switch for the kids room sometimes zapped you when turning it on. There was mould in the bathroom. We advised management of broken electrical sockets and all the other issues including mould and cockroaches but were offered no repair or bug spray or clean. There was a nail poking out of the carpet which got stood on and put a cut in my partners foot on the day we left. We told management but who knows if it was fixed. We stayed in room 36 which was run down. Not a nice place to...
