The bestttt seafood ever wow #wrasseandroe #portdouglas #seafood #restaurant #fyp

We ordered the below what Wrasse & Roe call a hot and cold seafood platter for $175. Yes you read that correctly $175. If there was a decimal point between the 7 and the 5 that would make much more sense when looking at the photo. I thought I will break it down so people get a good idea of what to potentially expect. And I am being 100% honest and fair. Firstly the mains took 1 hour 20 minutes to come. The Oysters were the size of peas. The smoked salmon I'm convinced is the smoked salmon you buy in the sealed packet at Woolies for $7. The soft shell crab tasted like 98% oil and 2% Crab . The Scallops, well pretty much imagine putting a rubber o ring in your mouth and chewing it. You'll have the exact same experience when eating these scallops. My partner and I couldn't eat the rest. The setting was very confusing of what sort of dining experience this company was trying to achieve. But it's very clear to see that Wrasse and Roe are attempting to come across as a high end Seafood Restaurant that charges high end prices but the quality of the seafood is exactly the same as the quality of the seafood you would get from your local pub that specializes in steak. The cooks/workers look like local over worked foreign backpackers with a white chefs hat on. The owner/owners of this restaurant should be embarrassed, but going by the way they are cheekily masking themselves as a top tier seafood restaurant to make a high profit it wouldn't surprise me that they would care about taking peoples money.

We ate at Wrass & Roe...not because we wanted to but because they were not booked out like every other place in Port Douglas!! We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely return to this place on our return. We had the scallops and the fish Ceviche they both tasted delicious ... It was amazing every mouthful was a party in our mouths, so amazing we both forgot to take photos of our entrees. For main we decided to go the chilli mud crab and decided to add the rice, sour dough & Asian greens, the only negative we had to say was the sauce was a little heavy on tomato and not enough chilli, but honestly the meal was excellent and we loved it. We both ordered mojitos to wash our meal down with and unlike many other places we could really taste the alcohol, one of the best I've had 😊 Our little one ordered fish and chips and she smashed her meal commenting how delicious it was especially the fish which looked to us not battered and actually white meat fish which was tender. The fish piece was a little on the small size but that's only because our daughter loves to eat. Overall we would definitely return, as I got food envy when I saw another customers fried barramundi come out 😊 This kitchen respects its Seafood. Thank you to the very attentive, friendly and welcoming staff.

We visited last night for our wedding anniversary and had a great night. Our waitress was very helpful, my husband always asks restaurants what’s popular or their favourite and so many other places don’t know what to say but our waitress gave suggestions for wine and all other elements. I appreciated her asking to bar and restaurant different questions through the night too! We ordered for an entree to share the Scallops and they were memorable!!! We loved the pancetta and the sauce and the scallops were cooked perfectly. Would go back here for this. For mains we got the beef cheek and the fish of the day with veg, killer potato’s and lemon butter. The fish was also cooked perfectly and so yum! The lemon butter and sides were great too, a really solid dish! The beef cheek is something I LOVE to order because it’s a beautiful cut, they did it beautifully too the flavour explosion of soy was great, really decent portion size of beef too! What I was thrown off by though was the chilli wombok, it was so spicy, even my husband that likes spice said it was pretty spicy. I think I prefer a more home style with mash beef cheek but that’s ok was still delicious just something to note if you’re deciding! At this point we were super happy with everything we ordered the dessert platter to share. The desserts were ok, I’m a big dessert fan and we don’t order it too often but nothing on the plate really wowed us, it came with the chocolate plate, deconstructed lemon tart and the coconut panacotta. We enjoyed the panacotta, the coconut/lychee ice cream with that was the best part of the dish we though, I liked the meringue and lemon curd in the tart. My husband liked the chocolate dessert but I didn’t at all because it was far too bitter for me but that’s just selective. Would just love a more wow dessert I guess. Overall we really enjoyed it though and would recommend...

Arrived 25 minutes early for our booking at 7.30 and was asked to have a seat and drink outside. That was ok but not the way it was said, very dismissive and condescending and not appropriate. We. ordered our drinks and watched 1 group of 4 and 4 groups of 2 allowed in , after waiting 30 minutes we approached the staff and asked why they were allowed a table the response was they were booked for 7.15. There was several empty tables but we still had to wait outside a further 10 minutes . As it was a seafood restaurant we decided to have the platter to share . Unfortunately the table was to small to accommodate the dishes so we asked if we could move to a larger table (which was sitting empty) the answer was no. We had to shell our prawns but they did not supply a finger bowl to clean your fingers . The oysters were nice ,I can’t believe I am saying this the scallops were tasteless and they are my favourite, the soft shell crab was soggy and oily, I found the king salmon too soft, the bay bugs too dry, if they had served the cold dishes independently not at the same time as the hot plate it might have made a difference. Our bottle of water was sitting precariously on the edge of the table. We had to ask for some plates to eat off .Definitely not the fine dining experience we were hoping for. The manager needs to learn some people skills and how to talk to customers with a customer focus. It was not a good night ,compared to the previous night at Nautilus - you have a long way to go. If I was on my own I would have walked away but as we were out to celebrate my wife Heather 60 birthday, I stayed as that was not a option, Ps the...

I booked this place for my missus birthday as she is a huge lover of seafood. Now, I hate seafood. Hate it. I have tried nearly all you can think of, and I haven't like any of it. That being said, this restaurant absolutely blew me away! Just to start off the waitresses and waiter were all incredible. Super kind and attentive. They had zero issue accommodating us a larger table, than the one booked, due to the large amount of space needed for our order. They checked on us, got us everything we needed, gave excellent recommendations, and were all smiles for the duration of our stay. The food. We ordered the full Mudcrab in a chili sauce, and the bugs. I've had Alaskan king crab before, but this absolutely blew it out of the water. Succulent, flavourful, masterfully prepared. It was nothing short of perfection. I've never had bugs before, or even heard of them, and was very surprised at the animal they plated in front of me. I cannot overstate the incredible flavour of this dish. After removing the meat from my fork, I gave my missus one of those "where has this been all my life?!" Looks, while simultaneously slamming my hand on the table (I'm sorry, it was involuntarily). She had essentially the same reaction, which was nice to see since she loves seafood so much. We were the last booking and accommodated us amazingly despite us staying so late. We had quite a fun time smashing the crab and making a mess of ourselves! Our trips to Port Douglas are very few and far in between, but I reckon we'll need to make this place a regular stop when we do go....
