Lily's is a beautiful spot in the heart of Port Macquarie.
Brightly yet tastefully decorated, they have achieved a lovely theme throughout their business, from their cups right through to their table numbers.
The outdoor area feels like a sanctuary, and is so well shielded from the road that you forget you're in the centre of town.
The coffee was delicious. From the smell alone you could tell it would be good, but the taste was perfect, and the latte art very impressive. I was surprised as the cups were a little unauthordox, but they'd clearly perfected using them.
We also had a brownie, which was a little hard but tasted great, so I'm assuming that's just because we visited towards the end of the day. It was also pretty pricey.
Best of all, Lily's is open until late afternoon! I can't tell you how rare this is in New South Wales and I really appreciated it.
We'll definitely be back for coffee, and hopefully to try the food too!
Highchairs were available and there was plenty of street parking.
Update to add: During our second visit, a branch (pictured) fell on top of us whilst dining. Whilst this was obviously a freak accident and thus hasn't affected my rating, all of the trees are on Lily's grounds so I don't think it would be unreasonable for them to have someone periodically check and prune the trees to stop this from happening. The branch hit my pregnant wife on the back but thankfully avoided our infant, who was understandably very upset regardless. The staff member working didn't initially notice and then upon realising (when bringing drinks out) checked we were okay, but didn't seem overly concerned. Incident took place afternoon of Thursday...
Read moreFantastic cafe experience! From when you catch the greenery as you walk towards it along the street, to the friendly farewells when you leave after great food. The garden dining is in a beautiful landscaped setting which is the best of country NSW cafe dining. Inside is an artistic celebration of pink with neat and nicely placed seating and counters. Excellent hot coffee to order as well as specialities like the gorgeous spiced chai with star anise decoration, concocted by Lill. Excellent menu from fast dishes to leisurely salads, made to order with generous portions. The warm turkey salad had the chef’s special dressing with cranberries, yum! The pearl couscous salad was delicious, topped with a nasturtium flower; nice touch. Burgers are big and healthy-looking. Service was attentive and fast, always with a smile. Prices are cheap for such high quality food, hard to get anywhere else. This cafe is a gem on the coast, worth a special deviation from shopping or...
Read moreStopped here for a coffee on our first visit to Port Macquarie because of the good reviews. The decor is very nice with an outdoor seating area, and the coffee was decent. However, the service left a lot to be desired. I had asked what the flavours of cakes were as they were not labelled and it seemed this was too much to ask. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and come back a few days later as we did enjoy the coffee but were met with the same sour service from the same staff member, who was a brunette lady. Our coffee order was made incorrectly with dairy milk, so we had to a politely ask for it to be remade. The lady was visibly annoyed by this and very cold, despite us being friendly and saying thank you multiple times. We were just ignored and glared at in disgust. Very disappointing as this has potential to be a great spot, if service from this particular lady...
