Jimmy's Falafel undeniably serves up some truly awesome food. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste of everything we ordered – absolutely no complaints there! Each bite was flavorful and satisfying, easily earning them top marks in the culinary department. Unfortunately, our experience was significantly let down by the disappointing attitude of some of the employees. Traveling with a small toddler who was feeling a little unsettled, we politely requested to sit in the empty back seating area so my wife could comfortably feed her. Despite the area being completely unoccupied during our visit and the fact that we had ordered from the main menu as specified, our request was denied. To add insult to injury, when we inquired about a suitable place to feed our baby, we were directed to use the public child bathroom located on the street, with no other options nearby. This lack of consideration and the impracticality of this suggestion were truly disheartening. Adding to our frustration, a part of our order was missed, and we had to remind the staff to include it. We also noticed the same issue occurring with the table next to us, further highlighting a potential lack of attention to detail. It's a real shame because the food at Jimmy's Falafel is truly outstanding and deserves high praise. However, the unwelcoming attitude, service mishaps, and the complete lack of suitable facilities for families with young children significantly detracted from our overall experience. If the staff were more accommodating, attentive, and if the establishment offered more practical amenities, this could easily be a five-star establishment. For now, we leave with considerable disappointment – fantastic food overshadowed by poor service and a lack of basic family-friendly...

My partner and I had a very disappointing time at Jimmy’s Falafel this evening. It pains me to say this, considering that we’ve enjoyed the food at this place on previous visits. But we had such an appalling experience this evening, I had to write this review.

We were waiting for our order for over 20 minutes already (and we only ordered falafel pitas). We started feeling concerned when the tables beside us that were previously occupied, and then cleared, cleaned and re-occupied with new customers were all, one by one, served before us. So we called on the waitress to ask what had happened to our order. She had apparently failed to place it and had to ask us what our order was. She apologised and assured us that our food would be prepared immediately and served to us. We waited. Another 15 minutes passed and nothing. We had to call on the manager to raise our concern. After apologising for the delay, the manager turned towards the kitchen and was handed the food we ordered, which she then brought to us. The problem was, our order, which was actually ready a good 10 minutes ago (which the waitress failed to pick up and serve to us promptly, as she promised!), was served to us cold. When we pointed this out, the manager thought it was prudent to let us know that the pitas are indeed served cold!

Both the waitress and the manager said they’re sorry, but their ensuing actions did not demonstrate any sense of responsibility for the neglect and mistakes committed. We just had enough of it and had to leave without having our meal. Really terribly disappointed with the service we received this evening from this...

Positives: food is very tasty, enjoyed every bite. While it’s pricey for a fast casual restaurant, it’s because the food is pretty decent. Once you manage to order food, it comes out very quickly.

Negatives: to book a table have to put in deposit with credit card, we arrive and table isn’t ready. This is an unfair proposition for customers as there’s no penalty for the restaurant for being late, only for the customer if they are a no show. This is a massive imbalance in the Australian restaurant scene. If our table isn’t ready then I think the restaurant should provide compensation as that would be a fair outcome as if we made a no show, we as customers are penalised. The hostess was very understanding my frustration, offered a seat at the bar but it was just in front of a large table lamp blocking field of vision, so we were accomodate at the high top tables in front, and hostess came back to make sure we didn’t want a table when it came open. As for service, we saw our waiter once after waiting a long time, and didn’t see him again. We found nickels and dining style ala carts options (no mezze platter for instance). We would have ordered more things but because waiter doesn’t come back to check on you we just payed and ran off.

Thanks to the staff who are all people trying their best in what looks like a very busy work environment with tight constraints.

I don’t think we’ll ever get back to prosper sit down dining with great service unless it is at a very high price point, or perhaps establishments that aren’t run by these big...

Not impressed - Tuesday night, busy as per usual (great for them), they had PLENTY of staff on the floor (great to see), however, we were seated by the manager (we figured this out throughout the conversation we had with her) expecting to have our table set up. Had to ask 3 different staff members including the manager for our table water (took them 15 mins to sort this out). Ordering our food was no easy process, again having to wave floor staff down to get their attention to have our order taken… the manager came to the rescue. I love this place (not sure if it should be “used to love”, however, they’ve moved a few slots up and changed menu options (weird change). Rather than being able to order the plate options (like the old menu), we were told we had to order individual plates? Right, so between 4 people we’d need to order like 9,10,11 plates? Not the cheapest per plate options (taking into account this is basically a fast food venue) - it’s more so a crash grab tactic as opposed to a conducive menu option. To be fair, I felt bad for the staff… they kept seating more and more new tables…. Seemed there was no communication or direction… everyone was running like headless chicken! We had multiple tables complain about all of the above… quite disappointing. Please review your menu and most definitely train your staff or at least support then better.

You have to go into this establishment remembering you are going to a Merivale place in the city and not your favourite middle eastern restaurant in Bankstown. Once you understand why you will be paying as much as you are for it, then you’ll enjoy it. Summary: Great tasting food. Fast and reliable service. Loved the self service payment option - perfect for the work lunch crowd! Is a little loud, but not enough to overpower the conversation. I highly rate for a work lunch. Wouldn’t travel into the city for it though alone. Would also work well for post work drinks and shared snacks. More detail: We walked in for an early lunch without a booking. Staff accommodated for us at the high bar tables. They were welcoming and friendly. Service was fast - as expected for a working lunch crowd. We ordered a serving of the felafel, baba ganoush, tabouleh and 3 proteins. Lamb kofta, chicken chermoula and the other chicken. Everything was tasty and moorish. Felafels were not dry as you can often expect. The stand out was the chermoula chicken (add the lemon! It elevates the dish!). The baba ghanoush was creamy - but maybe too creamy and not enough egg plant. And the tabbouleh was well seasoned. Overall a great lunch. And loved loved loved the self serve pay option. Although, remember, you are paying merivale prices.

This place is a must to visit when you are around George street opposite Wynyard Station. These type of awesome food better to be share with your friends or partner. Mezze plate, kinda tasting plate, with a little bit of everything. As far as I know, falafel and hummus is a must in the plate, the rest will be given randomly when you are order this dish. We were given: herbs and pickle, BBQ eggplant, slow cooked Roman beans and silver beet. We were enjoying every single items on the plate. We ordered also : calamari, with za’atar and parsley dressing, beautifully marinated , and parsley dressing giving a nice finishing fresh feeling. Falafel is everyone favorite, one of the best that I had in such a very long time. Chicken Shish was cooked to perfection, still juicy, those charred on the outside being this simple skewer dish to another level. Lamb kafta also done to justice, love the condiment of grilled tomato, and Aleppo pepper that sprinkle on top of the hummus. Save the best for last! This Baklava is a must! I reckons the best baklava that is served around Sydney. Layer of pistachio, and walnut is paired well with some stretchy middle eastern ice cream. Yummy!
