Stayed at the hotel for a week with my class.
The rooms were very clean and the staff was nice. It has a nice lounge area on the ground floor, where you can rest and hangout. The location is pretty close to the city (30 min walk) and well conected by bus. 3 min away is HOFER, a pretty large supermarket.
My only issue is the kitchen/food management. My friend has a mild sesame allergie, as well as some other food allergies. At Breakfast multiple diffrent kinds of bread were thrown together (including ones with sesame). I also have classmates who are lactose intolerant. The Hotel had no lactose free options for cheese and milk (as well as lactose containing sauces). We also have vegetarian and vegan friends. Due to the lack of options, they had to start bringing own dairy and meat replacements. The only vegan bread spread options (beside some chopped veggies) were: marmelade, nutella, margerine and if you're lucky, hummus. We have reported any food needs to our teacher before the trip, and i assume they have reported these to the hotel.
The food can't be described as culinary masterpieces, but as I am not picky, I was still able to get full. My room was for some reason never on the breakfast list, while my teachers were listed as a wrong room. The lack of refills and general preperation were also questionable. Often times we had to eat late, or were told we were there at the wrong time (false). When asked what would be for dinner, the staff did not know until around 2 hours before dinner.
The staff was very kind, and I hope this does not come over the wrong way, but i feel like these management issues can be avoided easily. Mostly i just wish for the kitchen to be more inclusive of diffrent food needs. I still had a pleasant stay over all, and no one...
Read moreWhile I wouldn't exactly call this location "city" (it's 2.5km to both the old town and the central train station), it's a convenient with easy connections via public transports to all parts of the city (or one walks, which is just as easy). There are a few supermarkets and restaurants in walking distance. However, Sundays and holidays can be tricky. I stayed in a large shared room with an en suite shower and toilet, which offered ample space and comfy beds. The lockers didn't work for me at all since you need a specific (heavy/thick) padlock. While there was daily cleaning, the crew was new and appeared to be either unqualified for or disinterested in the job: my bedding hadn't been changed when I arrived and the same happened to others during the course of my stay. On the upside: reception staff was always quick to react and offer a change of sheets. On the downside: the lackluster bedding changes extended to the rest of the rooms with superficial sweeping but no efforts made to remove hair from the shower or stains. Word of warning: since there is no a/c (i.e. no cooling) in the dorms, one must be smart about keeping curtains shut during hot summer days. If one does that, the rooms stay comfortable. My room was to the back and thus quiet, even with the window open. There's a small kitchen for guest use with a washing machine/dryer, an oven, microwave and a guest fridge. The breakfast spread is extensive and definitely worth it for anyone who likes to have a proper breakfast. Reception staff was very friendly and...
