As a loyal fan of Meininger Hotels, I have always chosen to stay with them and have consistently rated my experiences very well. Unfortunately, my recent visit to this location was profoundly disappointing and fell far short of the standards I've come to expect from the brand. The issues began in the room itself. The air conditioning was not working, which made for a very uncomfortable stay. Even more concerning, the bathroom was dirty, which is a fundamental and unacceptable failure in basic hygiene. To add to the problems, the kitchen utensils were very old and desperately need to be upgraded, showing a lack of care and investment in guest amenities. To make matters worse, the price for this stay was very costly, especially when compared to other hotels in the area. Paying a premium price for a room with a broken AC, a dirty bathroom, and poor facilities is simply not justifiable. I left feeling that I received extremely poor value for my money. While I have been a happy Meininger customer in the past, this experience has unfortunately left me very disappointed.

We’ve stayed at many Meiningers, this one was not among the best. Calling it “City Center” is a major overstatement. It’s a 15-min bus ride away in a shady neighborhood on a huge through road at the foot of a mountain that separates it from the city center. Lots of homeless people with vodka bottles in their hands are populating the bus shelters. The layout of the hotel is basically one long hallway with an elevator at one end - if you’re out of luck and your room is at the other end of the hallway, you’ll have to walk a lot. The beds are not very comfortable, and the shower was a bit of a challenge to climb in and out. Breakfast choice for vegans was poor compared to other Meiningers that offer vegan cold cuts, vegan cheese and even vegan eggs. This one only had hummus, and you had to ask for the soy milk. If I were to go back to Salzburg, I’d pick a guest house or hotel closer to the city center.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. When we arrived, the receptionist (appearing to be of Russian or Ukrainian descent) was extremely rude and unwelcoming. The room was very dusty, and cleaning was only done if requested. When we did request it, all they did was change the towels — they didn’t even make the bed or properly clean the room. I have a photo showing exactly how they left it. There are only two elevators for all guests, and they are very old and extremely slow. During busy times, we had to wait several minutes just to get in, and sometimes we ended up taking the stairs because it was faster. For the 3-star hotel they claim to be, everything felt cheap and poorly maintained. For over €600 we spent, the overall experience was careless and disappointing. I would not stay here again.

Stayed at the hotel for a week with my class.

The rooms were very clean and the staff was nice. It has a nice lounge area on the ground floor, where you can rest and hangout. The location is pretty close to the city (30 min walk) and well conected by bus. 3 min away is HOFER, a pretty large supermarket.

My only issue is the kitchen/food management. My friend has a mild sesame allergie, as well as some other food allergies. At Breakfast multiple diffrent kinds of bread were thrown together (including ones with sesame). I also have classmates who are lactose intolerant. The Hotel had no lactose free options for cheese and milk (as well as lactose containing sauces). We also have vegetarian and vegan friends. Due to the lack of options, they had to start bringing own dairy and meat replacements. The only vegan bread spread options (beside some chopped veggies) were: marmelade, nutella, margerine and if you're lucky, hummus. We have reported any food needs to our teacher before the trip, and i assume they have reported these to the hotel.

The food can't be described as culinary masterpieces, but as I am not picky, I was still able to get full. My room was for some reason never on the breakfast list, while my teachers were listed as a wrong room. The lack of refills and general preperation were also questionable. Often times we had to eat late, or were told we were there at the wrong time (false). When asked what would be for dinner, the staff did not know until around 2 hours before dinner.

The staff was very kind, and I hope this does not come over the wrong way, but i feel like these management issues can be avoided easily. Mostly i just wish for the kitchen to be more inclusive of diffrent food needs. I still had a pleasant stay over all, and no one...

While I wouldn't exactly call this location "city" (it's 2.5km to both the old town and the central train station), it's a convenient with easy connections via public transports to all parts of the city (or one walks, which is just as easy). There are a few supermarkets and restaurants in walking distance. However, Sundays and holidays can be tricky. I stayed in a large shared room with an en suite shower and toilet, which offered ample space and comfy beds. The lockers didn't work for me at all since you need a specific (heavy/thick) padlock. While there was daily cleaning, the crew was new and appeared to be either unqualified for or disinterested in the job: my bedding hadn't been changed when I arrived and the same happened to others during the course of my stay. On the upside: reception staff was always quick to react and offer a change of sheets. On the downside: the lackluster bedding changes extended to the rest of the rooms with superficial sweeping but no efforts made to remove hair from the shower or stains. Word of warning: since there is no a/c (i.e. no cooling) in the dorms, one must be smart about keeping curtains shut during hot summer days. If one does that, the rooms stay comfortable. My room was to the back and thus quiet, even with the window open. There's a small kitchen for guest use with a washing machine/dryer, an oven, microwave and a guest fridge. The breakfast spread is extensive and definitely worth it for anyone who likes to have a proper breakfast. Reception staff was very friendly and...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Meininger Hotel in Salzburg, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. As an Indian traveler on a trip, finding a place that feels welcoming and comfortable is crucial, and Meininger Hotel exceeded my expectations.

From the moment I arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the staff were evident. Everyone I encountered was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure my stay was pleasant and hassle-free. Their kindness and attention to detail made me feel right at home.

The hotel itself boasts a fantastic location, making it easy to explore the beautiful city of Salzburg. The rooms are clean, modern, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay. The ambiance of the hotel is vibrant and inviting, which adds to the overall experience.

What stood out to me the most was the genuine hospitality of the people at Meininger Hotel. It's not just a place to stay; it's a place where you are made to feel truly welcome. Their commitment to providing excellent service shines through in every interaction.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Meininger Hotel in Salzburg to fellow travelers, especially those from India looking for a friendly and accommodating place to stay. My time here was memorable, and I look forward to returning in the future.

Thank you, Meininger Hotel Salzburg, for making my...
