Lovely stay! We had a clean and simple room, which has been recently renovated, on the second floor. We loved the location of the hotel, just on the outskirts of the pedestrian-only downtown of Salzburg. We thought the hotel was not busy or noisy at all. We parked in front of the hotel to drop off luggage and check in, and then parked the car at an open-air dedicated parking lot nearby. Water pressure was great, and water was a good temperature. Having and using the elevator was a nice convenience. The front desk was kind and helpful. Buffet breakfast was simple and convenient: cold cuts, cheese, various breads + butter/jam, yogurt, muesli, hard boiled egg, breakfast cake, Corn Flakes cereal, whole fruits, juice, and coffee/tea options from a machine. We especially enjoyed the lovely historical photos and mementos that lined the halls. Our experience with the wifi was not good because the router for our floor was located next to the elevator, and our room was at the far end of the hall (the farthest room from the router). We ended up using our cell data to stream a sports game and a TV show. If wifi in your room is very important to you, you should request a room closer to the router on the floor. Also each router has its own wifi name, so you can't roam throughout the building and expect to auto-connect on each level. Overall a good experience for a short stay...
Read moreI booked a room via WhatsApp to check-in on the 17th of July 2022. During my 2 weeks vacation in Austria, I have visited alot of cities and checked in alot of hotels. This was my worst experience I have ever had in Austria. First of all, I have booked a room for 4 people with 4 beds via WhatsApp. I checked the price on Booking.com but it was €10 cheaper if you book it in WhatsApp. I went there to check in and they charged me taxes over €10. The issue was with the offer itself. On Booking.com I was able to get 2 rooms for this price , but only 1 via WhatsApp which was not clear at all!!! Also, even this small room did not even have a kettle to warm up some water . Moreover, the windows wear full of dust and were not clean at all . 30 minutes after my family and I entered the rooms, we went downstairs to the reception to tell the lady about the huge difference between the offers on booking.com and WhatsApp and we asked her to give us the same deal as the one available on Booking.com at this price point. Guess what was her reply ? " You have already checked in and the room is dirty now, if you have any issues you can talk to the manager tomorrow (Monday) "
My advice is to think twice before booking a room via their phone number, email, their own website..etc. Always book a hotel room via 3rd party website, or even better ,...
Read moreAn okay hotel for me & my family's stay during our visit to Salzburg back in July earlier this year. Hotel building was relatively well maintained, it was near some restaurants & some shops, public transport to the city was within walking distance being near the bus (or trolleybus in this case), staff were relatively helpful when present in the morning/afternoon and there were some nice views of the surrounding hills & mountains.||However, some negatives I encountered were the lack of staff presence in the night and having to enter a code to enter (didn't feel very comfortable arriving there during dark & while the hotel lights automatically came on when we entered, the lights were off at other times in the night) - its always reassuring & more customer friendly to have some staff present during the dark and the lack of air conditioning in the room which was an issue during the summer, especially when trying to sleep. ||The room also wasn't exactly the cleanest despite the hotel being relatively well maintained, and the breakfast, while tasty, wasn't quite the best quality (had an upset stomach after my last morning there). So all in all, okay for my brief stay in Saltzburg but needs major improvements for the future & I don't know if I'll stay there again if I return to...
