Urbankeller Salzburg — Restaurant in Salzburg

Just had Sunday lunch here with friends. The pork roast was delicious and I got it with potatoes instead of the dumplings. It was accompanied with a cabbage salad with bacon in it. So this was a good choice. The deep fried champignons were delicious too and a big portion, I do however think that for the price a small salad should be accompanied with the fried mushrooms. It would only be fitting and fair. For this I’m giving one less star. I also had a crepe with ice cream. Also very good.

The prices are high per usual in Salzburg and it is unfortunately the reason why many locals no longer go out for dinner or lunch. It’s more expensive in Salzburg now than in Norway where I grew up. That’s crazy. But the food was good and our waiter was very nice and on top of things and...

Oh...man. I love this place.

Specifics. Get the pork. Ask for the pork with carmelized crust. I don't remember the name but it is SO GOOD.

Don't be afraid to eat the carmelized part. But, it is crunchy in the extreme. U can't cut it with a knife, you have to break it off and eat it. U need good teeth and pressure. But it is so yummy.

Get it with dumplings and the the house red wine. Yah, I know. It's suppose to be a white wine. Nope. Get the red. I like the red. And the pork. I ordered exactly the same dish every time I ate there. And to top it off I ordered that same sort of dish everywhere else.

But Urban Keller wins the prize.

Eat here. Enjoy a quiet meal outside...if it's not freezing. Make it an event, after all, u are...

Das Essen war gut, wenn auch schon recht teuer. Das hat den Abend gerettet. Wie schon andere geschrieben haben, stimmte die Speisekarte nicht mit der Onlinespeisekarte auf der Webseite überein (Stand: Mitte Jänner 2024). Die tatsächliche Karte war viel (!) kleiner und es waren tw. andere Gerichte. Sowas sollte nicht sein.

Außerdem hatten wir bei der Onlinereservierung um einen Platz im Gewölbe angefragt . Unsere Reservierung wurde bestätigt, aber vor Ort wurden wir kommentarlos in die Stuben gesetzt - das Gewölbe blieb verdunkelt. (Man hätte bei der Reservierungsanfrage antworten sollen, dass sie es nicht öffnen werden oder nicht garantieren können. Es fand KEIN Event darin statt.)

Das größte Problem: der Service war extreeeeeeem langsam (und es waren nur 4 Tische besetzt an dem Tag). Zudem nicht aufmerksam. Insgesamt wurden wir von 4 verschiedenen Personen bedient, bis auf einen Mitarbeiter wirkten alle extrem planlos und unsicher. (Und das fiel nicht nur uns auf, sondern auch der Nebentisch war verwundert...) Leider wurde man auch beim Reinkommen bei der Bar nicht freundlich empfangen und beim Rausgehen gabs kein Danke und keine Verabschiedung (im Gegensatz zu "früher" im Urbankeller).

Man muss dazu sagen, dass das "alte" Serviceteam vom vorherigen Pächter ein Traum war - flink, freundlich, professionell (!!) und aufmerksam. Eigentlich ist mir das sonst im Gasthaus eher weniger wichtig, aber das war DAS Alleinstellungsmerkmal des alten Urbankellers fürs uns und deshalb unser Stammlokal, so so schade!
