We decided to take a last minute trip. We booked Craves the day before we arrived and are so happy that we found you on a travel comparison site. Lovely warm greeting at reception, the choice of rooms was offered (incase we were light sleepers) we opted for the room that was at the front of the hotel as it was larger, but we didn't hear a sound from the street outside at all. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Grand Place and all the bars and shops, perfect location!!! The whole hotel and room itself was a feast for the eyes, decorated very beautifully and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We headed out for the evening but made it back in time for last orders at the bar, which was buzzing with a great atmosphere. We had a great night's sleep and woke up with rather sore heads from all the beer!! The self service coffee station on each floor was excellent.I forgot my plug adaptor to charge my phone and the morning receptionist lent me his for a couple of hours, which he didn't have to do, again great service. My only criticism, and it is a small one, was that we would have preferred a little more choice for breakfast, that said, the croissants and coffee that I had were both very nice. We loved Brussels and if we return we definitely would stay here again, but we would skip the breakfast. Thanks for...
Read moreLocation is great. We stayed at one of their apartments (for up to four people) which is not in the hotel building. It's actually about three or four doors over.
The apartment was clean and they replaced the towels and did the beds during our two-night stay. No coffee or tea were provided.
Access to the apartment is through an elevator, which is big (for Europe's standards) and the hallways have plywood ramps for handicap use of the stairs.
I would have given five stars except for two things. The major one is the fact that the heater would not shut off. We were told by the staff that it turn off (stop heating) after being 12 hours in the off position. That was not the case. It kept heating the apartment throughout our stay. We had to open the two windows to let cool air inside. However, that added exterior noise and subsequently we were unable to get a restful sleep.
I had to walk downstairs and over to the hotel to tell them about it since the two telephones in the apartment did not work. And by the way, no one told us about it during check-in. On a side note, there is no safe in the apartment either.
Two out of the three hotel attendants were nice and willing to help with a smile.
WiFi was okay. Speed...
Read moreWe booked a room in this hotel for last week. The reservation was done with the thought about location, room facilities and price. On the way to Brussels while in the train we got message that hotel is closed and we can either accept relocation to Urban Yard Hotel or cancel booking. Since we were already on a way and it was only 1 night we accepted the rebooking. Urban Yards hotel was a decent hotel with friendly stuff but location (next to Brussel Midi station) was much worse than we originally booked with Saint Nicolas, also room did not have water kettle or coffee machine (original room in Saint Nicolas had it), also no bath, only shower. Keeping in mind that facilities and location were not equal to original booking and Urban Yards Hotel online was available to be booked for 79 euro per night on the day of our arrival, we were still charged original fee of 99 euro. Yes, they arranged other hotel for us and yes, we could have rejected it, leaving us with rush to find another hotel ourselves, but the whole experience did leave us with bad taste in the mouth. I will not recommend Saint Nicolas hotel if I am ever asked...
