Two friends and me stayed at the Gagarin hostel for one night and we wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer. But I’ll start with the things that I liked: the location is very good, just a few minutes walking distance to the beach and the city center. The beds were quite nice and private and there is a small terrace. The breakfast was ok and the hostel owners (apparently three brothers of which we only saw 2) seemed to make an effort, but we’re quite stressed. Now to the drawbacks: there were only 2 toilets (two very small rooms) which were also used as bathrooms for more than 20 people. When I got up at 8, I had to wait half an hour before I could shower, because it had to be „cleaned“ before. Which that takes to overall cleanliness which was not very good. Bathroom/toilets were always wet and a little moldy. Also, we booked a 7-bed dorm, but instead slept in a room with 10 bunk beds, next to a room with also 10 bunk beds and no...
Read morePlease don't stay here. I really don't recommend this place and I regret booking it. I'm going to start with the worst thing: its not a safe place for solo female travellers. There are strange, sketchy old alcoholics staying here because they struggle to afford a normal rental place. The place reeks of booze and stink and these guys are loud and scary. They won't let you sleep, and when they do you will feel the walls shaking from the snoring of at least 3 people. Other than that its very dirty and the facilities are horrible. There are only 2 toilets and one shower for over 20 guests. I tried staying here for a few nights, but after the severe lack of sleep I decided to leave. I asked the owner for a refund pointing out I didn't feel safe staying here. He would not refund me, so I left without money because you can’t put a price on safety....
Read moreGagarin House is definitely a unique space, but does the job for what some travelers would need. The space itself is quite small, so if you value personal space then this hostel is not for you.||||The pods are great for someone who just needs a place to rest their head. You can obviously relax inside them when you're not sleeping, but they're not the most comfortable spaces around. The mattresses are quite thin, so if you appreciate a bit of cushion underneath you, then you might need to sleep under a towel or blanket.||||The breakfast provided isn't much of anything, it's basically just some meat, cheese, bread, and cereal. I suppose it does the trick if you're on a tight budget, but I didn't use it much.||||I would likely stay there again. It did the job for what I...
