Positive: Hotel is located in a quiet area. You can walk easily to the city centre. Standard bedroom size and facilities was good value for the amount you pay.||||Negative:||When we arrived our room was not ready. They offered us a free upgrade to a superior room, which was fine for us. We had to move the next day to a normal room again. Unfortunately the upgrade (superior room) was very bad. Big gaps in the bathroom where bugs could come in. Also there was a big opening in the roof where a leakage caused dripping of water all night. ||The day after we they promised us have our own room ready in the early morning. We had to remember the manager to set this up the next morning. He said it will take him 20minutes. Eventually we had to wait for a hour before we could move over.||||The wifi reception is good, but the internet connection and speed is very poor! You could barely use it most of the times.||||There was no safe in the standard room. We ended up carrying a 35kg safe up ourself from the superior room to our standard room. ||||I didn't trust to left any valuable belongings in my room because the keys where lying around the reception desk. Half of the time there was nobody present to secure the keys of the rooms and we could easily grab another key. ||||The room was not cleaned each night. We had to ask for new towels and toilet paper. ||||Our breakfast was included but was very poor for a hotel in the price range. The worst we had in Asia so far. Just bread a egg and coffee. No fruit available. We ended up to buy some import cheese, fruit and bread for ourself. I asked him kindly to put the cheese into a fridge. When I went the day after to pick it up he forgot to put the cheese into the fridge and left it on his desk. He even didn't understand that you can not eat it anymore after a day lying into a climate of 30 degrees Celsius. So I could throw it in the carnage. Gone $4. Again, no sorry or anything like that. ||||We try to discuses our complains a few times with the manager in a very kind way but he did not show any empathy. We asked him to contact his boss and discussed the problems with him. He regret to do that because his boss was in Phnom Penh.||||This manager really have to work on his English, management and...

My recent experience at Neakru Guesthouse was utterly appalling and has left me incredibly frustrated. I booked a room via Booking.com two days in advance during my holiday in May, and my reservation was confirmed with payment processed.
To ensure a smooth arrival, I proactively called the guesthouse owner before checking in. To my absolute shock and dismay, the owner informed me that my room was not available for my stay. What's worse, he then revealed that he had cancelled my booking May 13th – a full day before my intended check-in – without any prior notification or communication to me. I was completely unaware of this cancellation.
Compounding the problem, when I immediately checked my booking.com, it still showed my reservation as confirmed, leading to immense confusion and stress upon arrival. I requested the owner to process the refund immediately, but despite my attempts to contact him, he has failed to reply or provide any evidence of the refund.
This level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Booking a room should provide peace of mind, not leave guests stranded and out of pocket. I strongly advise other travelers to avoid Neakru Guesthouse if you value reliability and clear communication. Booking.com, I hope you will look into this...

We were moving on to Siem reap after our time in Kampot and asked about the bus tickets they were selling. They told us it was a direct bus with only gas stops. We had a lot of luggage so we thought it would be nice to not have a layover. A van not a bus picked us up with 10 other people plus all their luggage and we realized after leaving the city limits that this over crowded van was our ride to Phnom pehn. The diver drove way to fast and had huge difficulties changing gears. When we arrived in Phnom pehn we were told to get out....another passenger started to unload the luggage and the driver sent us and another couple across the street to wait for our connection. We noticed on the sign that neither of our destinations were there so we question the driver before he took off. He then made a phone call and walked us to another bus station were we waited almost 3 hours for our other bus which then turned out to be a bus for locals and stopped every half an hour.....3 times for the men to pee on the side of the road once for the women. 12 hours later we arrived. Go to a travel agent and do your homework when booking a bus ticket and don't buy...
