I live in Saigon and have been to Phnom Penh many times for short breaks or to renew my Vietnam visa. Whatever the reason for my visit, I always stay at this small, family-run hotel. The room-rate is usually US$15 a night, and I certainly have never experienced the noise from a nearby club another reviewer talks about. In fact peace and quiet, together with cleanliness and excellent attention from the people on reception, are hall-marks of the place. I tried several other Phnom Penh hotels, all more expensive, before finding this one, and now I never stay anywhere else. The family who own and run it from their rooms on the ground floor appear to be Cambodian-Chinese, and this may explain the efficiency. There's no lift, but as there are only three floors above ground level you probably don't need one. No meals are offered, but there is a truly outstanding restaurant and cafe just down the same road called Herb Cafe, situated at the end of the street opposite a large Buddhist temple complex. Their superb latte at US$2 is my regular breakfast, and cold draft Angkor Beer at a happy hour price of US$0.75 makes an evening stop compulsory. The area as a whole (ask your transport for Street 278) is excellent. It's some two kilometres from Riverside, perhaps less, and is within walking distance of the Independence Monument. There are two Indian restaurants in the street as well. Altogether a home from home in...
Read moreI stay here every time I come to Phnom Penh for work, which is generally 3-4 times a year. ||||Love the family who runs it, they are honest, kind, and effecient.||||This is a no-frills but comfortable place. This is why I continually come back after all...
Read moreHaving endorsed this hotel in the past, I unreservedly withdraw that recommendation.||I stayed there again in December 2013 for three weeks. I left to travel to Preah Vihear and booked a room for my return. When I returned, they had given the room to someone else. They suggested I stay at their sister hotel for an extra $5 per night.||Also I had $20 go missing from my room and when I asked the staff they just couldn't explain it. I stay in Cambodia for 3 months every year, but will never ever stay here again. They are bigger now but have lost their personal touch. Goodbye and good riddance to the golden bridge, hello ANGKOR MITHONA...
