The Birdcage Boutique — Hotel in Khan Daun Penh

First two nights were pleasant but the third let us down considerably. Anyone travelling with temperature controlled meds may struggle here, fridge packed up in my room, it was replaced but then that one proceeded to do the same as the previous, my bag got soaked due to the freezer part defrosting aswell. I also requested my ice packs to be put in the freezer as of faulty unit, and then went and double checked for peace of mind that they were put infact in a freezer not fridge, to which I was told yes they were in the freezer. I woke up at 6:30am and had to walk around to find the ice packs myself as no staff were to be seen even though we were told there would be the previous evening, I then found my ice packs just put into a fridge behind the bar meaning my medication could now not be kept at the right temperature on our 6 hour journey to Siem reap which will now deem it pretty much spoiled :( a feeling of being let down is what I have left with. My medication is my responsibility and I only book rooms with fridges and freezer accessible but I at least expect them to work and if any problems arise ( which I know can and will happen) the staff should atleast not fail to follow simple instructions when...

This is a hidden gem with lovely staff, clean rooms, larger rooms, great Thai food, English breakfasts and a bar that has a passion for gin! Our kinda place! We had a room with a bath: water was hot and plentiful, good pressure too! The pool was an added bonus! Nice and cool and clean. Great location. Close to the river front, Royal palace, museums, parklands etc. We had an amazing time with the Water Festival. It was epic! The town was buzzing! We also loved the security for our bikes! Security guard here and they were locked away at night! Loved every bit of this place. An amazing couple run it too. English is superb and great hosts, as were all their staff. Please be aware that the management at this location is disrespectful, and the property felt not safe. After arriving, I was offered a room next to the bar, which made me feel exposed to the public. I kindly asked if it would be possible to place me in any room with more privacy and less noise. Property staff were unwilling to accommodate any of my requests, insisting to I pay for an upgrade. Additionally, they were shouting at me, which is simply not acceptable in the hospitality industry. I asked for the manager's name, but the person refused to share it and told me to leave the property if I planned to leave a negative review. I have traveled the world, but I have never found management as scary and unprofessional as this.
