As someone who deeply appreciates and understands the nuances of fine dining and authentic cuisine, I feel compelled to share my disappointment with this establishment. While the service was decent and the atmosphere had its charm, the food was a glaring letdown—and frankly, dishonest. I rarely leave negative reviews, but in this case, I feel it’s necessary to speak up.
This is clearly a tourist-centric spot, and while I understand that comes with certain expectations, there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed. The menu features glossy photos of what appear to be premium dishes, which is what led me to order one of the most expensive options. What arrived, however, was a far cry from what was advertised. The dish promised a beautifully prepared fish, but instead, I was served a lackluster fried catfish that felt like a blatant bait-and-switch.
Tourists may be visitors, but we’re not naive. This kind of misrepresentation is unacceptable, especially when compared to the genuine quality and authenticity of other Khmer restaurants in the area. Save your money and seek out a place that respects its customers and the cuisine it serves. This was a disappointing experience, to...
Read moreI decided to try Khmer Surin Restaurant after seeing 800 plus reviews and that it has a great rating. The door experience did not disappoint.
The cozy vibe of the place, with its traditional decor and soft lighting, sets the stage for a great dining experience.
I had the thick Tom Yum soup and the explosion of taste was a masterpiece for me. It's a masterful blend of flavors where the classic sourness of Tom Yum is harmoniously balanced with the sweetness and creaminess of coconut milk. Each spoonful is a testament to the chef's skill in creating a dish that is both comforting and exotic.
I finished my meal with a comforting cup of warm tea. It was nicely decorated and ends my meal on a pleasurable note.
Khmer Surin isn't just a restaurant; the culinary experience that stayed with me long after the meal is over. I can still remember the tom yum taste a week after while I am writing this review. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking to explore Khmer food...
Read moreWe came here based on the reviews after a long bus ride from Siem Reap. We arrived around 8:45pm, hungry for dinner.
Sadly this place disappointed us and we would not recommend if you are a foodie who has been travelling around SEA.
We ordered the pad Thai after reading a raving review about it. The portion was small and flavourless. Made with vermicelli noodles, not flat noodles. The papaya salad, although we asked for medium spicy, was not spicy at all. The lemon grass iced tea was literally just water, ice, and three pieces of chopped lemon grass. When I asked if this was the iced tea, they said it was and it was mixed with water. The avocado smoothie was warm. The only saving grace was the spring rolls which were tasty but could not make up for the total price of $19 USD. Too expensive for the portion and quality.
As a plus, the staff and service were very kind.
But Unfortunately our least favourite meal so...
