Glory Angkor Hotel — Hotel in Siem Reap

This review boils down to our treatment on the last day of our stay. Having traveled a lot in developing countries I don't complain easily about small troubles. I didn't complain when we arrived late at night and were told that our room AC is not working and had to go to another hotel nearby and then install again in this hotel in the morning. I didn't complain about the poor water pressure in the shower. Or about the power failure on our last morning (the hotel apparently has no generator). I did mention I wasn't happy about the tuk-tuk driver they booked for us for our temples touring day and who tried to take us to rip-off places where he gets commission, and who we needed to ditch half-way into the fully paid day. ||||But the day before the departure I asked if the hotel could arrange a drop-off to the airport. One transport was included according to our booking. The manager got all confused and said they only arrange one pick-up. Well we didn't use your service coming to the hotel. No? But you send us your flight confirmation, so we take that as a pick-up request. No we didn't, actually, so you didn't send anybody to pick us up. Now the guy is searching for his computer for a message from me which doesn't exist. Then blaah blaah blaah more excuses why only pick-up service is available but not drop-off. From the hotel's point of view and money-point of view it makes no difference whether it's a pick-up or a drop-off. Here I mention that they owe me one transport, and that I could have demanded only half-day pay for the scamming tuk-tuk driver they arranged for us, but I let it slide. Oh you need to make a claim the same day! the manager invents. Well, I actually did tell you about it that very same day... But it was like trying to talk to a statue. Бронировала номер Superior Double, заселили в комнату 102, но она произвела на меня угнетающее впечатление безрадостной "серостью" и отсутствием вида. Я попросила дружелюбного хозяина отеля показать другие свободные номера и он любезно предоставил такую возможность. Просмотрев несколько комнат, я выбрала за доплату большой и стильный, солнечный и радостный номер более высокой категории Family Room Pool View 201, с 2 угловыми огромными фрацузскими окнами, террасой и видом на бассейн. Особенно меня впечатлило шикарное деревянное ретро-кресло! Номер оснащен всем необходимым: большой плазменный ТВ , холодильник, сейф, регулируемый кондиционер, на подносе электрический чайник с бесплатными пакетиками с чаем,растворимым кофе, с бесплатными, ежедневно пополняемыми 2 бутылочками питьевой воды, феном, корзинкой с гелями,шампунями и прочими принадлежностями. Раздельные душевая и туалетная комнаты. Вай-фай бесплатный, но сигнал в моей комнате был неустойчивый, а в лобби и у бассейна - прекрасный. Кстати, лифта в отеле нет, но при заезде-выезде персонал по моей просьбе занес и вынес мой чемодан. Завтрак скромный, но вполне достаточный, включенный в стоимость номера, включает 3 опции на выбор: американский (яичница-глазунья или яичница-болтунья из 1 яйца с 1 кусочком поджаренного бекона и 1 сосисочкой, хрустящий багет - ммм!, масло, джем, несколько кусочков фруктов и стакан сока); французский (большой, пышный и вкусный блинчик с джемом, несколько кусочков фруктов и стакан сока) и азиатский (лапша, хрустящий багет, масло, джем, несколько кусочков фруктов и стакан сока). Я с удовольствием лакомилась блинчиком! А какОе наслаждЕние "упасть" в прохладную воду бассейна после изнуряющей усталости каждого жаркого дня, проведенного в храмах Ангкора! Отель расположен в центре, буквально в 7-10 минутах от сумасшедшего "муравейника" Паб-стрит и 2 Тхноу стрит через мост, но в спокойном, несуетливом месте. Напротив отеля, у реки, в 2 минутах ходьбы, расположен еще один "оазис", весь в зелени и цветах, красиво освещенный вечерами квартал-городок по-европейскому типу "King's Road": ресторанчики и бары ( в т.ч. знаменитые Hard Rock Cafe, Costa Coffee, Blue Pumpkin, Rohatt и другие),магазинчики,художественные галереи,сувенирные лавочки. Ужиная там вечерами в разных ресторанах, я наслаждалась красотой и покоем, думая о том, что даже в такой гостеприимной, но бедной стране, можно найти свой маленький рай!... I would give zero stars if I could. One hour before I go on the plane to Siem Reap they cancel my reservation, telling me my credit card was declined (which turned out to be a lie). I give my other card's detail and tell them to please keep the room and ask whether they will pick me up from the airport as agreed. When I arrived in Siem Reap, I read the answer that because of renovation they can't keep all the bookings. Not only did they just leave me standing at the airport, how can you not know a day before if you can have a room for your booked guests or not?! Also, why do you need to upset people by telling them the credit card is declined when it's clearly not? I didn't even receive a proper apology. This is not how you should treat your guests. You gave me a very bad first impression of Cambodia. Luckily other people here...
