It is an old building. The room design is old too but they are spacious.
Every level has a balcony, seats, and a table. Some levels have free bottled waters on their balcony.
Receptionists are polite, helpful, hospitable and friendly. They speak good English.
Room service is routinely done everyday, to the point that some visitors who sleep until the later time in the day gets annoyed, but the room service staff are just doing their job religiously.
The hotel premises are clean. Every morning you will see everybody actively cleaning the lobby area.
They offer laundry services too in a very affordable price. The clothes are clean and smelled nice. Whites stayed white. Colored stayed colored.
However, the pool water is not that clean but not that dirty, which is not an issue for me because I am not a swimmer after all, I'm just sharing my observation.
It is near some food stalls. It is also surrounded with good restaurants. So getting an instant fix is not a problem.
Pub Street is just a 6 minute walk.
It is remote to every place you can think of. And of course there is Grab tuk-tuk or remorque.
The only downside I really can't ignore is the hotel does not have elevators. So if you are like me who carries heavy luggage, I suggest that you request to have a room specifically reserved for you on the 1st floor.
I visited a friend who stays in another hotel nearby and the room may look modern but it is small and basic and the building does not have an elevator too.
I wouldn't trade the spacious room I had in Kong Botique for hers.
I would recommend this hotel, if you are looking for a budget friendly lodging in SR and if the issues I mentioned do...
Read moreAlthough the room itself seemed to be mostly clean and satisfactory, the staff and service of this hotel were aggressively rude and inept. After a long day of travel to arrive at the hotel, we were immediately hustled into booking a tuk-tuk driver through the hotel (we didn't accept). Every time we passed the front desk, the staff tried to persuade us to book a tuk-tuk; this was their one and only interest. We booked a driver elsewhere and when we told the staff, they claimed that the other driver would steal our belongings and rip us off (he didn't) and we should book with them. The only communication between the staff and us was them trying to con us into a tuk-tuk. An old couple (presumably the owners) sat outside the hotel most of the time glaring at the guests.
The breakfast service was a sad and buggy ordeal. In our four mornings here, our breakfast order was consistently delayed, forgotten, or messed up. One morning, both my girlfriend and myself noticed black specks in our omelettes. Upon closer inspection, we found numerous mosquitoes cooked right into the eggs. On the last morning, we decided to take rolls to-go, as we had a long bus ride ahead. During the ride, we noticed some ants in our lunchbox and pulled apart the bread to find a NEST OF ANTS. Additionally, our bathroom was loaded with ants and many of them hitched a ride in our toiletries and stayed with us for the rest of our trip.
We heard reviews from fellow travelers of some great hostels and guest houses in Siem Reap, so there are surely MANY better options than the King...
Read moreHotel staffs were superb and very friendly (special mention to Jac & Ei). Its my first time travelling solo and they certainly made sure my stay is comfortable. The hotel location is also convinient as it is only about 8 mins walk to the night market and 10 mins walk to the pub street. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was not much though. They clean the room but i feel like they can improve more on that as it seems like its not really being thoroughly clean. I saw one staff though cleaning the pool today :) other than that ill recommend the place.||We only had two days in Siem Reap and had Mr. Roben as our driver. He helped us planning our trips to the floating village, Angkor Wat and other sightseeing spots around Siem Reap to make most out of our time. He was always on time, is a very safe driver and also did the airport transfers for us. When he was prevented for one trip, he organized a substitute driver who was also really good ||We highly recommend his...
