the owners! They are absolutely fantastic. They’re welcoming from the moment you arrive, always ready for a chat or to give advice/help if you need it (make sure to ask Kath for food recommendations, we took her up on several and they were all fantastic). You can arrange pretty much anything through them (laundry (the laundry service almost directly over the road provided a great service), transport etc.). They provide a list on arrival of attractions/tours in the area that are popular or recommended by them - these are not tours or activities run by them so these aren’t bias recommendations, they’re simply making sure their guests have the best options available to them.
location. The property is just a stones throw from restaurants in every direction, as well as being about a three minute walk from pub street with lots of bars and entertainment. Despite this, you do not hear a peep at night, nor can you hear other guests in the property.
the pool. This is an absolute must whether you’ve spent hours walking around temple ruins in the blazing heat. The pool is a very welcome way to cool down and relax before dinner.
Kim (the Tuk Tuk driver). A wonderful man. We used his services to visit Beng Melea and to do the ‘small tour’ of Angkor Wat (this included Angkor Wat and all the immediately surrounding temples). He was very attentive, provided us with water and cool compresses when the day’s heat set in and always greeted us with a smile.
air con. Again, an absolute must in the Cambodian heat and very much appreciated after a day exploring.
spacious rooms. The rooms are plentiful in size, with plenty of storage for bags and clothes. The ensuite bathrooms are also a generous size.
the whole place was spotlessly clean and our room was cleaned every two days during our...
Read morePassport Villa, formerly Passport Hostel, was a great place to stay in a great location. We had a family room with a separate (but our own) bath, with a queen bed and a bunkbed for the kids. The hosts, Kahn and Kathryn were expats, but had been living in Siem Reap for a number of years and had a lot of helpful recommendations. The place had a great saltwater pool, and fabulous AC, both critical in June! We really liked Siem Reap and had a couple of great meals - the best on on the recommendation of Kahn. The location is very central - walkable to the night market, pub street, etc. The bed was not the most comfortable for side sleepers, but certainly new and everything was very clean. The hotel also arranged moped rentals for us, which I'd highly recommend as a way to get around the temples at your own pace, particularly with teen agers who thought that was a blast. The mopeds also allowed us to go down to the Royal Gardens at sunset to watch the flying foxes (fruit bats) all leave their roost - definitely worth doing if you like wildlife. The hotel also arranged our last day tuk tuk with their very nice driver, Kim, to take us to one of the farther out temples, the landmine museum, and all the way to the airport (! this I do not recommend in a tuk tuk! But it worked). Thanks much for...
Read moreWe had a fantastic time in Siem Reap, and this was largely thanks to the wonderful hospitality of Kathryn and Khan, the owners of Passport Villa. They run a family-friendly accommodation with a fantastic pool, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.
The location is ideal: close to Angkor Wat, so we could easily visit the temples, and also near cozy restaurants and the famous Pub Street. In addition to its central location, the accommodation is wonderfully quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Kathryn and Khan also provided us with great tips on what to do in the area.
Thanks to their recommendations, we discovered some beautiful places! We rented mountain bikes through the hotel and explored the surroundings at our own pace.
Finally, I want to express a special word of thanks: I had forgotten my laptop charger, but Kathryn and Khan sent it to our next accommodation in Battambang. That was truly outstanding service and very very very kind of them!
All in all, our stay at Passport Villa was fantastic, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly, and well-located place in Siem Reap. Thank you,...
