Art, our server--and bartender--was the most accommodating and most welcoming we have had during our stay in Cambodia (and we have eaten out every day and had excellent service just about everywhere). He was charismatic, engaging and gave us some welcome advice on points of interest as well as telling us about himself and asking us about ourselves. The rest of the wait staff were exceptionally friendly and kind as well. The food and the cooks were top notch. Absolutely up scale presentation/plating, and phenomenal taste to match. A huge menu with a variety of options to fit any palate or diet. I had the tangerine sweet and sour duck breast and my partner had the Grill Lounge Steak, both of which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Lots of vegetarian options as well as unique Cambodian dishes (river fish, frog legs, king prawn). They also have classic dishes like beef tartare. Their beverage menu is also extensive, my partner had a Singapore Sling which was perfect and I had their fresh lime juice (limeade as we call it in the USA) which was probably the best I've ever had. Art brought us perfectly ripe mango as dessert free of charge, and the whole meal was only $30 (the cost of one entree, at an upscale restaurant where we're from). Needless to say we tipped very well and felt obliged to spread the praise for this beautiful spot. Definitely not our normal setting but it was nice to feel fancy while still being able...

Loved everything about this very smart restaurant, but especially the food! We both had a strong urge to eat a good steak, medium rare and the Grill Lounge came to the rescue. We knew exactly what to expect thanks to the accurate representations of the various dishes on offer in the menu. When our steaks arrived, they were exactly as ordered: medium rare, juicy and tender. One of us had the steak with scallops and the other with prawns. My partner opted for a peppercorn sauce and I for the blue cheese.

Service from our excellent waiter, Art, an exceptionally competent and perfectly turned out young man, with very good English language skills, left nothing to be desired. The restaurant dining room and the whole environment/feel of the place are unmistakably high-end. We sat downstairs in the comfortable air conditioned space, but there is additional seating upstairs which is open to the street at first-floor level for those who enjoy a more al fresco dining experience.

Prices are very reasonable for a meal of this quality in a restaurant of this calibre. We have already visited twice in the past month and I can see us returning again before we leave Siem Reap. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, in particular to any Western visitors to Siem Reap who enjoy a great steak meal in a top-class restaurant environment and at a very reasonable price point. Give The Grill Lounge a try - you won't be...

From the looks of it, they’re aren’t many visitors here, walking inside, the building was remarkably hot and there were flies in the room buzzing everywhere. Not really the warm welcome I wanted…

I was sat down at a table by a nice smiling waiter who stood by as I looked through the menu, a very kind guy, but it made me uncomfortable and i felt like I was being rushed to order something.

The drink I ordered was fantastic however the food was absolutely terrible, very cold, and a disrespectfully small and tasteless portion size for $10, I felt like I was served a kiddie bowl of rice for the cost of 4 meals in this country. I must say, it’s such a bad look on a restaurant when your customers leave hungry after paying 4X as the mom and pop shop with better tasting food. I took my time to eat my little ration of scraps and the waiter kept coming by and just standing there watching me. It felt so awkward and uncomfortable, like they were just waiting for me to leave so they could turn the air conditioning back off.

Overall the experience was poor, the drink was great and the food was terrible.

Is it worth a visit? Eh probably not…

There are other restaurants in the area that charge this much and provide a better experience, this one seems to be out of the main area, doesn’t get many customers, and doesn’t seem to be worth the extra money when they do...

Such a superb restaurant! Well thought out and an absolute gem in Siem Reap. The decor, menu variety and food were aesthetically pleasing and everything tasted just as good as it looked! We had a group of 6 from New Zealand and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Thank you to Chin and the team for being so hospitable and take such good care of us. We had a variety of dishes- I had the Baan Chaav for my entree and OMMMGGG- it was easily one of the best things I’ve eaten in Cambodia! The crispy but fluffy omelette and the shrimp and pork filling was so yummy! I could’ve eaten 5 servings. I also had the pineapple fried rice and grilled chicken. Also, delicious. For my dessert, I had the banana fritter split and OMMMMGGG this was a 5++++++ dish. The bananas were sweet, the coating was light and crispy and beautifully complemented by the creamy coconut ice cream and cream! I loved it!! Everything was so yummy, I would easily eat here over and over again. It was also fairly affordable for a near fine dining experience. Must try if in Siem Reap! Thank you to the owner Chin and the team! Ar-koun Charan!
