This might sound a little too good, like one of those hotel evaluations that are too polished, but I really wasn't expecting to be that impressed. This is a real opinion based on what I've been through. I've been to a number of sites in Southeast Asia, but this one was different. I think it deserves some appreciation.Phka Chan Hotel: A rare Combination of a Central Location and Real Peace in Siem Reap|| The hotel is in only a short walk from Pub Street, the old market area and the center of Siem Reap, surprising it's also in a quiet area. In short this the best of both worlds: ease and order.||The management is present and really helpful, which is still rare in many local hotels. As a result, the service is smooth, the organization is well thought out, and as an international guests i really enjoyed how reliable it was. ||The staff is helpful and attentive, and they know how to be friendly without being too friendly.||The rooms are big, well-furnished, and kept very clean. I felt that i received more than the normal comforts for this price range, such as high-quality bedding especially pillow.. , strong warm water pressure. |These are really appreciated things after a long day of seeing temples.||The breakfast is worth mentioning because it was fresh, varied, and definitely made with care. ||It's not as fancy as a luxury hotel, but it always fulfills both Western and Asian tastes with a mix of local and international dishes.||The pool and common rooms are quiet, well-designed, and perfect for unwinding after a day touring Angkor Wat. ||The atmosphere is friendly and laid-back, whether you're traveling alone to relax, as a couple on a romantic getaway, or as a family wanting some time off.||In short, Phka Chan had a unique combination of simple things: it's in the middle of everything, it's quiet, the service is perfect, and the beds are comfortable. If you want to be close to things without the noise and have good quality without the show, this is a great place to stay...
Read more🌟 Overall Impression||We had a pleasant and comfortable stay thanks to the calm atmosphere and friendly staff. The hotel is located in a quiet area, yet accessing the town center was easy with Grab.|If I could make one request, it would be to have a softer mattress — but overall, I would definitely stay again.||ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー|✅ Positive Aspects|| • A compact, modern resort with a peaceful vibe, reminiscent of places in Thailand or Bali| • Spacious, clean rooms with full amenities| • Garden-view rooms facing the pool — views were average but relaxing| • About a 15-minute walk to the city center; the area is very quiet and safe| • Friendly and welcoming staff| • Breakfast buffet with tasty local dishes| • Great value for money| • Plenty of restaurants and massage spots heading south toward the center — popular with long-stay Western visitors| • A supermarket is about 5 minutes away, and a mini-mart right in front of the hotel sells water and beer||ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー|🔧 Areas for Improvement|| • Some room for improvement in operations (possibly due to limited staffing during the rainy season)| • Lack of clear instructions for room facilities — we didn’t know the water heater required a switch and ended up using cold showers for a few days| • No trash bin in the room| • Towels were missing after cleaning, and a follow-up call to request more was forgotten| • Mattress was very firm, which may not suit everyone| • Limited number of poolside loungers considering the number of rooms (not an issue for us)| • Too many flies in the breakfast area — food was covered, so hygiene wasn’t a big issue, but separating indoor/outdoor zones might help reduce this| • During heavy rain, rooms on the second floor can be quite noisy||ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー|🔮 Looking Ahead||If the operational details are improved, Phka Chan Hotel could be one of the best options for those looking to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay in...
Read moreStill staying there. Cool place.
I work as a hotel and hospitality consultant in projecting and would love to offer just some insight from my side. No point in lifting up the great things of this hotel because they already do them correct and well. But....
I found it at a good price, 70usd a night for honeymoon suite. I think that is a fair price for the place. 5 star but then again star ratings don't mean more than amenities these days, for me 5 star is about the little things. Reception not always attentive or staffed enough. Asking the question, only 1 staff who is occupied with personal check in taking 5 or more mins.
Pool is nice but the little details are missing. One drink took 15 min to receive although I was only customer. Nuts is nice touch for free with drinks but how about a free simple cold towel together with the first drink ordered, that would be a 5 star touch signaling details of caring and it doesn't cost more than laundry and small fridge but would give so much more in terms of 5 star.
Gym is very small and everything is turned off before guests arriving. Meaning machines of electricity, water station and AC. Just let the AC stay on cause a 40 degree sauna box with full windows is not a good way to begin a workout. Again details, and really not much of a cost.
Rooms are nice, well done. But what a difference a coffee pod maker would make. The secret-western tourists love is their coffee as much as asians rice with their food. Nothing wrong with that. A simple (doesn't need to be nespresso) coffee pod maker instead of disgusting instant powder coffee will go a long way. I know this is a extra cost added, but trust me when I say for a tourist this makes a ton of difference. I stayed just this week in 4 star simpler hotel that had one and it was the so great waking up to fresh coffee. Again it's the details.
Overall lovely hotel. They do a lot right and the...
