My wife and I stayed here 2 nights in September 2024 on our way through Dawson City. The hotel has a rustic, Yukon-like vibe with basic pine wood work and basic fixtures, but at the same time feels recently renovated. Everything in our room was clean and worked as it should. There isn't A/C, and our room was very (too) warm, but the windows do open to let in some fresh air. There's a full size shared refrigerator & freezer in the lobby along with coffee, tea, etc. We also had dinner at the on-site restaurant, and it was quite good. ||As mentioned in other reviews there's a "no shoe policy" you're asked to agree to when you sign in. So you should either bring a pair of clean indoor shoes or slippers, or you'll be walking around the hotel and attached restaurant in your socks like we did. It's a little odd, but I get it with all the mud in town. Maybe a box of disposable shoe covers would be a nice option for the hotel to provide. The other downside of this policy is the shoe room can get quite toxic if any guests store their trench-foot boots in there as was the case while we were there. ||One other minor thing if you're sensitive to this - the sheets and towels are washed in a lightly scented detergent. It's not the worst I've smelled, but you'll smell it if you put your face against a pillow or towel. ||Overall, I'd probably...
Read moreA great place to stay while in Dawson City. The Hosts and staff are very friendly and informative. The rooms are basic but updated, spacious and clean with comfortable beds. The food in the restaurant was fair/good. I thought it odd when we were asked to take off our street shoes at the lobby and provided with Crocs to wear....until the rain started. The unpaved streets in Dawson city become very muddy and give you a glimpse into life during the Gold Rush! Take note the room rate does NOT include a continental breakfast. We found the wording in the advertisement seemed to imply it was included and were not the only patrons confused by this. The hotel does offer a European continental breakfast buffet for $16/person. We enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate recommending the Aurora Inn to friends or...
Read moreThe shuttle bus from the airport was what made us choose this hotel. It was a good choice. We were whisked to the inn and welcomed to Dawson City. The Aurora Inn feels like a friendly bed and breakfast although it does not serve breakfast. In the entrance hall there is a kitchen for guests to use. Free coffee was great and they had decaf. You could probably put a cold breakfast together there if you needed to but the hotel across the road (The Westmark) has a more than adequate buffet – rather a large establishment lacking the warmth of the Aurora inn. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well thought out. We were there in early September and needed the heating on, which kept the room comfortably warm. The no shoe policy is no problem with Crocs supplied or, as we did, use your...
