Great friendly staff. Top contender for best restaurant in town. Huge portions. Delicious fried crispy chicken burgers. Order a poutine too.
Long time hotel in Dawson that is very well recommended. A recently built annex a few steps from the main hotel, is only a few years old. Some annex rooms also feature a shared balcony/walkway directly above the available parking area for easy vehicle access. Full size SUVs and trucks easily fit in these spots (Tahoe, Escalade, F350) The entire hotel is very clean, rooms impecibly maintained, and is uniquely located on the edge of a quiet residential area away from the revelry closer to town centre. A rare feature not often found within Dawson's compact geography and during its lively summers. Cabins are cozy and a great option not to be overlooked by those seeking extra privacy and ambience, with immediate parking outside your spacious private porch. Some cabins may accomodate larger vehicles (eg f550, boom truck , trailer), but confirm first in case this changes. Owner Brad, GM Megan and all staff and friends are ever-present, helpful and knowledgeable on all things...
Read moreI don't think the bar manager likes tourists. My husband and I arrived a few minutes ahead of a group of 8. The young waiter showed us options for a group of 8 and when he took us through the bar to show us the patio outside it, the bar manager asked what was up and seemed exasperated that we would want to fit a group of that size on the patio. There was actually a number of tables for us to disperse at since "moving the tables wasn't an option". I tried to stay positive, though I got an bad attitude from the bar manager. The others joined us, we ordered drinks from a nice friendly waitress when the manager got into it with an older gentleman in our party. Both were at fault, but at that point the manager kicked us out. WOW, haven't been kicked out of a bar in for ever -LOL. The bar manager is immature, unprofessional and needs to take a customer service class.
I was told our tour guide was told the day prior that she would have to eat by herself rather than join a group already seated because "moving chairs and tables wasn't...
Read moreWe only ate the the restaurant and it was a terrible experience. For starters the service was poor. It took a long time for our server to come and bring us menus and when he did, he did not inform us that they were out of anything. When we ordered, we were informed they were out of fries, wings, and tater-tots. When asked if we could substitute onion rings for our fries (seeing as they were out, we were informed we would have to pay extra, or have a salad). Then our server disappeared until the food came - no drink refills, no table checks. As for the actual food, it looked like the fryer oil hadn't been changed in a week and the taste of the onion rings backed that up. The burger was over-done and the reuben had too much mayo / butter or both. Just not a good experience all around. I'll acknowledge that it could have been an "off day" or perhaps that we got a new server as the other server on the floor looked like they were hustling...
