Bar Furco — Restaurant in Montreal

I recently reserved the private room at Bar Furco to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, and it turned out to be a truly unpleasant experience. The owner, J F, displayed extreme rudeness and disrespect throughout the evening, along with engaging in inappropriate behavior.

From the moment we made the reservation over the phone, J F was incredibly mean, setting a negative tone for the entire night. The private room had a minimum spend requirement of $2000, and I made sure to track our spending diligently by checking in with the bartender regularly. He showed me the screen towards the end of the night and we had surpassed 2000$ in sales.

As the night progressed, J F kept approaching my girlfriend, taking her aside and offering her shots. He even tried to persuade her to buy expensive bottles of wine, claiming that we were still far from reaching the minimum spend.

As we were leaving, J F suddenly claimed we were $500 short and insisted we couldn't leave without paying that additional amount. I knew this was not true because I had seen the screen before leaving and the total amount was over 2000$.

This isn't the first time such an incident has occurred at Bar Furco. During my own birthday celebration a few months ago in the same private room, the owner pulled the same stunt. I fell for it then and paid him $400 without receiving any proof or explanation. This time, however, I took precautions to track the spending meticulously and refused to let him take advantage of me again.

I strongly advise against hosting any special occasions at Bar Furco, as their owner's rude and disrespectful behavior, coupled with their questionable financial practices and unwanted advances, tarnish what could have been a pleasant experience. It's truly disappointing to see a venue resorting to such tactics instead of providing genuine service and customer...

I visited Bar Furco on a very busy Friday night with a party of 7 that had a staggered arrival. Five (5) of us arrived together and were accommodated even though we did not have a reservation. When the remaining two (2) guests arrived, the staff cooperated to reseat us quickly. The staff was attentive, patient and made us feel welcome even though we were totally disorganized.

The vibe at Bar Furco was perfect for reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. The lighting was warm, the music was at a reasonable volume (the DJ was great - he played a mix that included pop and Afrobeats), and the bar layout provided nice sight-lines to quickly find others in the crowd. My group is in Montreal for a conference and I ran into several others from the conference scattered around the bar.

Lastly, the menu offered a variety of proteins, was reasonably priced and delicious. Our group had a mix of dietary restrictions and everyone found at least one item they were excited about. The plates were made for sharing and I was able to try an assortment of interesting dishes.

If you are looking for a chic bar to entertain friends and enjoy appetizing food in a classy atmosphere, I highly recommend Bar Furco. I suggest making a reservation as this place was very popular...

I always try to give the benefit of the doubt ... my first experience, one of the waitresses didn't even look at me or bother making eye contact with me while I was ordering but did look at & listened and made eye contact with my male friend. I asked her at what time the kitchen closed ... she literally responded by asking ME WHAT TIME IT WAS ??!! I'm the client!!! It's like you tell me ? Thats YOUR JOB !!! Is this a Mclovin scene in " Superbad " movie ??!! I asked for the menu , she never came back. Waived down another waitress and asked her if she could be our waitress and I'd rather TIP HER. I'm not sure if we are still in the middle ages , but one cannot assume that a man is the one PAYING . Restaurant staff should be treating the clientèle in a equal manner !! I TIPPED the other waitress a way lot ! On my second visit .. To sum it up , the " squid ink spaghettoni au charbon " had No squid Ink whatsoever and my friends shooter glass was chipped so his lip was bleeding .......
