I hate leaving bad reviews but I need to vent. I treated myself to the Christmas Table d'Hôte by reservation only, for which I had to pre-pay. My 1st gripe - they charged 20% service instead of the standard 15%. I would not have cared had the evening been perfect and for $210+, I had high expectations. ($250+ actually, because I ordered bread and 2 drinks) But alas... It started off pretty basic - an amuse served on a pâte sablé (like every other tasting menu this season) followed by scallops followed by the rack of lamb. And that is where everything fell apart. Firstly, they served the rack whole - 4 bones. It looked impressive and had my last name been Flintstone, I would have rejoiced. But as I am not a cartoon, I had to grab the bones with my hands to try and cut through the chops to make the rest of the carving manageable. After struggling with the darn thing and accidentally flinging 2 mushrooms into my lap, I asked my waiter Pierre, whose excellent service saved this review from being 1 star, to have the kitchen cut it for me. When he returned, what I found in my plate was 1 chop, 1/2 chop and 2 bones with nothing but fat and gristle. (do they not know how to properly trim a rack of lamb?) Did I mention I paid $210 for this meal? So I asked another waiter - Veronique, also lovely - what happened to the rest of the meat? She sent the maitre D to me who had nothing more to say than it was the standard portion (not true - everybody else was served 3 full chops with the extra bone for decor) but finally offered to see if there was a larger piece in the kitchen. I refused to send my plate back again (can you blame me?) so I ate what they served. But I can't help wonder why they singled me out for that piece. In the end, I felt disrespected and it ruined my whole experience. This is yet another over-priced restaurant serving the same food as every other high-end eatery in the city with little to recommend it over anywhere else less pricey. Lesson learned, at least.

Commodore, located in the chic Honeyrose Hotel, is a visually stunning restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for a refined evening. The standout features of our visit were the elegant setting and the excellent service, which made us feel well taken care of from start to finish. For appetizers, we ordered the salmon tartare, and we recommend the 6 oz portion ($29) if you’re sharing—it’s fresh and well-executed. The oysters (12 units) were definitely a highlight: incredibly fresh, perfectly chilled, and absolutely delightful. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for all the dishes. The lobster bisque cappuccino was decent but slightly too oily for our liking, which took away from the experience. Lastly, the penne primavera à l’italienne was disappointing—lacking depth and flavor, it felt too simple and unmemorable for such a sophisticated venue. While the atmosphere and service are top-notch, the food itself was hit-or-miss. Commodore is worth visiting for the oysters, ambiance, and attentive staff, but the overall culinary experience leaves room for improvement.

I stayed here at the end of February and absolutely loved my stay. Chic new cozy trendy hotel. I sincerely think it's one of the best places I've stayed in a very long time. The details in the architecture of this place is absolutely divine. Not a single spot didn't leave me in awe. It's absolutely gorgeous in all of the common spaces. The breakfast at the Commodore was delicious. Service was a little slow and wonky at first but staff was friendly and food was extra yummy, well cooked and seasoned. Staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed my stay. The room was gorgeous and clean. The only thing I didn't really like is the toilet situation... No one wants to be heard when nature calls, doesn't matter if you're in a romantic or platonic situation...closed room with a fan will always be the way to go.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant due to the condescending attitude of the waitstaff. From the moment we were seated, we felt looked down upon, as the waitress insinuated that we couldn't afford certain dishes. While we were ordering, she repeatedly questioned whether we truly understood the plates we were selecting, which came across as patronizing and unwarranted.

They rushed us throughout the meal, insisting we had to leave in two hours despite the restaurant being empty. At 9 PM, when we were supposed to wrap up, the waitress suddenly told us we could stay because they managed to find another section to sit the next group (as the restaurant was half empty), however everyone was already done due to the constant pressure to vacate our table. When we told our waitress we were done (30 minutes later), it took her an additional 30 minutes to bring the bill, and we had to ask for it. Instead of attending to us, she kept running back and forth to other tables, and ignoring ours.

During this time, three people at our table chose not to tip due to the poor service, prompting the manager to make snarky comments under his breath. We tried to ignore his remarks, but it felt as though he was intentionally trying to humiliate us by ultimately starting a loud argument, insisting we needed to be educated on restaurant etiquette and tipping culture. He claimed we deserved this treatment because we were “an hour late,” which was completely untrue, as the first guest arrived promptly at 7 PM and we ordered at 7:45. He even went so far as to say we should be grateful that they allowed us to have a table there at all.

Overall, the combination of rude service, condescension, and a dismissive manager made for an incredibly frustrating dining experience. I won’t...

I’m not one for writing bad reviews however in this case I feel it is very necessary. I booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner based on the vibe of the restaurant from pictures and videos I saw online. The restaurant is beautiful however flash photography is not allowed inside, this squashed my plans for birthday pictures since that was the main reason I chose this restaurant.

The service was nonexistent, nobody introduced themselves to us and we didn’t even know who our designated server was because it appeared that they kept switching. When our server DELPHINE took our drink order she left before the whole party could order. After taking our orders she never came back to check on our table, nobody asked us how the food was, nobody came to refill our waters, nobody came to see if we needed anything. The restaurant was not super busy and we observed all the surrounding tables being served, even the birthday group seated right beside us. We observed all the waiters including the manager looking at our table but still never stopping to check on us. It felt as though we were being ignored by the staff. I’ve been to far busier restaurants and lower quality restaurants and still received better service. If I’m being honest I’ve been treated better at McDonalds. On top of that the food was mediocre and couldn’t make up for the terrible service we received. I believe that checking up on your table and making sure our water glasses are full is the bare minimum and we couldn’t even get that.

When we spoke to the manager he said it would be better when we come back but that will never happen. Please save your money and time and go...
