BED BUG INFESTATION! PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!! i believe they are paying for good reviews & i’m here to tell the TRUTH. i stayed here with my family, (2 nights) and my brother and i woke up with bed bug bites ALL OVER our upper bodies all over our foreheads, face, nose, back, arms, neck and 2 on my EYELID! It’s so itchy and so uncomfortable i would not wish this on my most loathsome enemy. When we got up in the morning we saw one crawling around ON THE PILLOW!! so so so disgusting. I know the owners would never want their children to stay at a place with bugs like that. that’s not even all! The room we used had a kitchen attached, and there was a COCKROACH crawling around the walls and ceiling WHERE WE WERE PLANNING TO EAT!!!! can you IMAGINE?! there was another small baby cockroach in between the flaps of the FRIDGE DOOR! i almost threw up The appliances: fridge, microwave, stove, oven, kettle, coffee maker are ALLLLL SO OLD they were definitely made in the 60s or 70s and haven’t been updated since! Like, cmon it’s 2022! This is NOT okay & the last renovation was definitely made before my mother was born. The place itself is VERY rundown as the sink had MANY cracks in it and there was a gross brown stain in the shower/tub floor and mold in different spots of the washroom. You can FEEL the springs in the beds and it’s not comfortable at all! The walls are SO THIN and we can her the noise from the neighbours and people going up and down the outdoor stairs as if it was in our room. When we informed the manager at the desk about this, he offered a free night for our next trip instead of a refund. A FREE NIGHT. why would he think we would EVER return to this place?????? absolutely horrible horrible horrible place to stay. PLEASE SPEND THE EXTRA $$ and go to a hilton or comfort inn or LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE so you don’t risk being bitten and bringing bugs HOME. To the Blue Moon Motel owners, it’s gross and disgusting that you charge $110+ to receive this… very nasty. It’s clear you do not care enough for your guests to even refund just This place is in dire need of a massive renovation and should be shut down until...
Read moreMy partner and I wanted to visit the falls and surrounding areas and stay somewhere affordable yet comfortable. I am happy to report that the Blue Moon Mattel is our new go-to spot when in Niagara Falls Canada! When you arrive you quickly notice how well cared-for the motel is. In the summer there are beautiful flowers hanging everywhere and artfully designed garden beds throughout the property. If you walk in the back there are several places to sit and relax around the pool and the picnic picnic area. At night these spaces are lit up and give a feeling of a friends’s backyard. The room that we stayed in was immaculate and very comfortable. We opted for the room with a kitchenette. When we first walked in we we pleased to find a separate kitchen and sitting area stocked with a refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, toaster and several other amenities that allowed us to both store and prepare/enjoy food as we needed. A short hallway lead to a decent-sized bathroom which was spotless. Just after the bedroom was a big comfy bed with two towel swans waiting for us. The bedroom was well appointed with a few chairs, TV, closet, dressers and places to put our belongings. We felt like we had our own little apartment. One might say that some aspects of the motel are dated and if you are comparing this motel to the places near the falls that cost five times as much then you would be correct. However, if you see The Blue Moon Motel through a different lens you realize how much love, care and attention has been put into making it a home away from home. How often do you get to step back in time and experience the way that hospitality used to be? If you long for those days, if you are fed up with over-priced chains, if you want a place that is owned and operated by people who live onsite and care about it, or if you are someone who just wants a comfy place to crash for the night, then look no further than The...
Read moreA level above all other local budget motels. Beautiful and well manicured pool area, and the pool was heated and very comfortable. There is also an excellent seating area just outside the pool deck with a beautiful wooden gazebo and several picnic tables as well as several BBQ’s for guest use - with a grocery store just across the street large groups can save a lot of money cooking right at the motel. of you have a housekeeping room there is a decent supply of cooking and eating essentials. There was a small but more than adequate complementary breakfast in the AM that included cereal, bagels/toast, eggs, pastries, and coffee - more than enough to start your day!
There is also a children’s play area with slide, etc.
The grounds of the motel are well kept with well tended flowers everywhere, and the staff were very friendly and occasionally chatted with guests around the property making sure everyone was satisfied, or if they needed anything.
Several of the rooms have been beautifully updated and are very modern, but some are dated or in a partial state of upgrade (the bathroom in our housekeeping unit for example was beautifully updated, but the rest of the room had not yet been), but it was clean and serviceable nonetheless. It seems perhaps upgrades are being done in stages - understandable.
Our room and beds were made up while we were out for the day with plentiful clean towels, etc.
Overall don’t expect a 5 star experience, but if you’re looking for a budget motel, don’t look any further - the Blue Moon is without doubt the best choice in the Falls.
