This motel was horrible. It needs to be upgraded. Majorly it was clean but it certainly could use much needed attention. So I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is cheap yes, but it certainly does need to be upgraded by a long shot so I would not go back there and I certainly would not recommend it to anyone. So when we walked in the first thing that was going on was the TV was broke. We had to get the maintenance guy to come and give us a new TV. The remote was also broke. We had to get him to fix the remote and then the sockets that are supposed to be in the wall were hanging out so the electrical was hanging out of the wall so that's on safe so that was another issue and the bathroom needed major upgrading. The tub was had rust stains in it so I didn't use that. The towel rack was not even there. You had to just wash your face and then hang it over the rack of like the shower head so you couldn't even hang up your towels. I had to throw them in. The towel in the tub is where I left them because there was no room to put them to hang them. There's no towel rack so another issue. I also noticed that there was no hangers. You couldn't hang your coat anywhere so I had to leave it on the other bed. There was no comforters on the bed. There was only a heavy sheet. So of course I was cold at night so I had to take the other sheet that was on the other bed and add it to ours to make it a little heavier and it made it into like a like a light comforter. I guess you could say so again. There's another issue so they needed to get proper bedding like this. Hotel is just not at all up to date with anything. So yes if you wanted cheap hotel for the night it's good but at the same time I would say you get what you pay for. So this is a cheap hotel. So you're going to get what you pay for and we ended up. We paid $65 for the room and we got $65 worth of the room. So like I said broken TV no bedding, no towel rack. The shower was disgusting. So yeah and the breakfast there wasn't a breakfast included. But in the morning when we went in there was too many people there. They didn't have enough tables to have people to sit at. So that was an issue. The breakfast was not exactly what I would consider a breakfast. It was bagels and you could use the toaster and make some toast. There was cold cereal and I think there might have been some danishes so not something that I would recommend eating for breakfast. So we ended up going out to a restaurant down the road because there was just like I said no room to eat and two it was not really a great breakfast. So yes it was a free breakfast but again it was not up to standards. So in the end I'm just going to say it is not high recommended I give it a 2 out of five and it definitely needs a lot of upgrading. So this is my rating on it and I would not recommend it...
Read moreThis location looks and functions very-very tired. It needs a huge amount of upgrades/updates and repairs. We check-in to this place last May 5, 2024 as this place came on top of my expedia search. My mistake I did not read the customer reviews, thus, I took the chance. Upon entry in the reception area, the smell of their kitchen (Indian kitchen) is so strong and thought that the smell will stick to my clothing. That first impression became a FAIL to me. Our room was also a FAIL because of a lot of observations. The tissue holder from the bathroom fell on first use, hair dryer rack nearly fell on the sink after 2 uses. The sink is rusty as well as the bathroom heater all have rusts. Bathroom door knob and door strike plate jamb are all broken, room A/C is so loud but it functions. There is no fridge so you have to bring your own cooler. The bed and its sheets and pillows are acceptable. The included 32" TV only have a few clear stations while you will not be able to watch the rest of the other TV stations. The FREE breakfast fell very-very short of my expectation. You will only get bread, some condiments, cereals, milk, only banana, no any kind of meat protein not even some boiled egg is included. So we decided to go out to the nearest Tim Hortons or McDonalds. I paid ca$169.15 where I have to pay an extra $10.00 as overnight parking fee. Upon check out, I was told by the reception that I can get a ca$10 discount/refund if I post a 5 star review at expedia and google reviews. After posting the review, show it to the reception and the refund will be processed. Initially, I said, "Yes I Will Do That...", but, I changed my mind as I felt that it was not appropriate for me to sell my review for a meazly ca$10.00. So I asked for my room keys again and left those keys inside the room. I know I don't have any pictures to support my review, but, I wish to tell the would be customers what my experience were. As for the owners/managers of this location, never again for us to go to this location, until such time I read more positive reviews. If you are only looking for an overnight stay and not minding of any other comfort amenities at a very low price, this will be a place for you, however, if you want to be fully rested and experience your home-away-from-home, I suggest, go somewhere else, this HOWARD JOHNSON NIAGARA FALLS will not meet your expectations. Never again that I will stay...
Read moreWhere to start! I guess the final straw for us was finding a beg bug upon leaving the room... everything before then was laughably terrible, but not quite so serious as to warrant this complaint.
We arrived at the hotel to find that breakfast was cancelled due to Covid. Whilst this was not surprising, other hotels I have stayed with during this time have made some effort to offer small individually packed breakfasts instead. We only booked in February and the email confirmed a full breakfast, so I was expecting more than that. When we got to the room, the Coffee and Tea station had also been completely removed. When asked, we were told it was a Covid risk...
We had a room with a hot tub, but it was broken and the jets didn't work, so really should have been advertised as a large bath. That said, it looked pretty cool and the water was hot at least.
The first evening, while in the room, another customer entered our room with a key card while we were in there. Shortly after we received a panic call from the hotel desk asking who we were - we explained that we had checked-in earlier that day, much to the bemusement of the receptionist who eventually found our reservation. A good thing we were in the room with all of our belongings at the time they entered...
On that call, I told the member of staff that our TV was not working. He said he would call us back about this, but never did.
We went out for the evening to get some food and when we returned, our key cards had been cancelled... presumably when they checked someone else into our room. Luckily I had my ID so they were able to reactivate our key cards.
As we were leaving the room, we noticed a bug in the bed. I thought bed bugs were microscopic but this thing had a small red body and legs and was walking across our sheets. We spent the rest of the day cleaning all our belongings and buying bin bags to store the items that could not be washed, which are still by the door.
Upon returning I placed a complaint with Howard Johnson - ref# 4535513. I was told someone would contact me within 7 days. Over two weeks later, I called back and was told that nobody had tried to call, but someone had tried to send me an email. I informed them that nobody had contacted me via email or phone, so they asked me to chase the hotel direct. At this point I've decided to give up on Howard Johnson and make public what was the worst hotel experience I...
