Peter- sorry for the misunderstanding. The lady you followed into the store is an elderly regular who I don’t see very often due to her covid concerns. Having no customers lined up to pay I had left the cash register and went to the far end of the counter (where the plexiglass ends) to greet her and ask how’s she’s been. But before I could ask I realized you had stopped behind her so I asked if you had a question. In your shock(?) I guess you didn’t realize that the actual cash register (where people line up to pay) is located 10 ft further down the counter. Hence my assumption that you likely wished to ask me a question. As for me stating ( I did not ask) that you were ‘too sensitive’ this whole interaction lasted literally no more than 10 or 12 seconds. One instant I’m trying to wrap my head around why you're upset the next I’m registering you’re leaving. Was I wrong in my evaluation? Genuinely sorry you took offence and chose to walk out rather than stay and sort the misunderstanding out. I entered this store directly behind a customer who was headed to the counter just as I was. To my surprise, before he even acknowledged her being in front of me, he looked at me and said “do I have a question”. I was stunned and responded “why would I have a question there’s a customer in front of me. I decided not to proceed with my purchase and went on to exit the store when he said “why are you sensitive twice”. I wish I didn’t have to say this but as a person who has experienced racism, this sure brought back memories. My family and I were visiting the area and had just finished dinner at the neighbouring restaurant. It was a very negative experience and I hope this isn’t a reflection of that community. Just ran here with my husband. We're not from the area, so we took our time looking for things and deciding on some snacks. The cashier immediately started staring and came from behind the register to "fix the shelves." The whole time she was watching us like a hawk. I watched her right back.

When we approached the register, she came over to cash us out. Mysteriously after we left, she no longer needed to fix the shelves.
