Had to stay as there was a blizzard. Manger guy would not refund me. We checked in at 11 pm and were trying to get out by 3 am he Said to us you stayed here so it’s a night and we could have left them at 3 am if we wanted. We had no choice because of the Blizzard 2 weeks ago on the Tuesday night. 3 am we called every hotel in town. All booked. He did give some kind of refund on my daughters credit card. But it was not right. It should have been all of our money. Plus we were there in Bereavement as my sister died on the Friday. We went to the car and got our dog blankets. As the woman at desk at night said she does not know how to make a bed to give us new sheets. After she came and saw our room I said to her you told me on first phone call you would change sheets. Then she told me the ridiculous thing that she doesn’t know how. I asked for the sheets I’ll do it. She came up tried to say she asked me to change rooms at 3am not change sheets. I was frustrated with her because I believe she was pretending to not understand with a language barrier and she had a tear that she wiped from her eye. It was ridiculous. I was not mean or loud I was firm she was very nice and I felt bad for her. I told her it was not her fault The only reason she should have a tear is she works there. She came back gave us 2 flat top sheets and left. Well in my photos you can see they were also dirty. The big hair clump is my duvet cover. My daughter pulled my mattress cover back and it had puke stain on it by pillows and went all the way to mattress. So they didn’t even change the cover when ever that happened. Guys under us on ground floor were doing bike outside all night you could hear them snorting lines. A lady who had been there for 8 days said that we have been lucky so far because of Bedbugs. I have more awful photos and so does my daughter. Both beds were same. The toilet in the front part had a thick white substance running down the out of bowl. Im sure you can guess what that was. The food in breakfast area. I did not eat. But I had a tea. Seamed safest. Well the pictures say it all. Those rotting bananas were covered up with green ones. There was no hot food. I have many times stayed at the name and always they have eggs and bacon or sausage. I am making an official complaint as I have everything documented and on video at front desk when he told us no money back and we should have just left at 3 am in storm when we discovered the sheets and toilet and walls. Look at the door handle that was closet and front door. He had the nerve to ask me if it was only my daughter and I and did we bring dogs in the room. Implying that we made all that mess from 11:30-3am. While there to have my sister cremated and bring her home We had full intentions on being there for 4 days. Thank god we got a nice place next day. He charged us 130 plus tax no offer for bereavement and we ended up having to pay 176 for 3 more nights. I’m a single mom living pay to pay. I could not afford to even be there it you have to do why you have to do for family. And I am the only one here right now until Aril. Nightmare!!! Anyone who says nice place is a lier! Must be fake reviews. You will catch something from this place don’t do it. I literally slept beside old vomit covered by one of there pillows sorry to the person who used that pillow I could change anything for anyone as I had my own. And my dog blanket.

Today the woman working behind the desk who didn’t want to tell me her name, would not allow me to check into my room. I already had paid close to $600 for 3 nights, plus a $300 security deposit. I have been a frequent guest at this hotel many times—3 occasions in just the last few months alone—I have never caused problems, caused damage, or been rude to the staff behind the desk as I have never been given a reason to. Today I came in assuming everything would go as normal, and it did at first. She checked me in, I paid the deposit, she took my ID (a status card), and told me I would have to wait 15 mins for my room to be ready (this was at 3:35pm when check in time is at 3:00pm). Then she told me they need another form of ID. I said all I have other than what I gave her is a birth certificate, but that was refused as well. I tried explaining they took it last time and she told me it was “a change in policy.” Supposedly the policies change every few months. What I don’t understand is why can’t they focus less on policy and more on customer service? I asked to see the policy and of course she did not want to show it to me. She also got very defensive when I asked what her name was, claiming she did everything she was supposed to. Well that’s great for her. I’m standing outside now trying to figure out where I’m going to go because this woman cares about making up rules than taking care of their customers. I was hoping to get up to my room so I can relax in the hot tub as I was just in a vehicular accident this week and have several cracked ribs. I can barely carry the bags I have with me and all I can think about is what have I done to be treated this way despite the thousands of dollars I have spent at this hotel. I have never had parties, never trashed the rooms I stayed in, and never had anyone make any complaints about me. You think that would mean something, but it doesn’t. I haven’t even received my refund yet! If she thinks I am going to let this go, and since she refused to give me her name, she is the clerk working behind the desk on Saturday October 12, 2024 at 3:30pm. She checked me in, took my deposit money, and even gave me my room key to the room I had already paid for, only to tell me “too bad.” Here is a picture of my room key below. I’m sick of being treated this way by people who are all too happy to take my money.

We stayed in room 309. As you can see from my photos it was not clean. There were no towels or cloths in the room when we arrived and I had to call twice for them. Didn’t think much of it, but I now see that this was a precursor for what we were about to experience. My family came here for a celebration of life service. My mom’s room did not have a functional bathroom door, my aunts room had mold in the bathroom, as did ours. The doorknob on the closet was literally hanging off and the balcony was covered in spider webs and broken concrete bits. There were police at the hotel at one point for citizens causing issues. The guests below us were also loud and rude, the front desk did NOTHING but literally watch them on thier balcony while these guests cat called other people close enough to hear them. Some of the room numbers on our floor were broken, the windows were covered in brush and cobwebs in the hallways; brush outside and cobwebs inside. The ice machine was down as well. The cherry on top was when my husband used the luggage dolly to transport our bags on our departure date and the elevator closes on him; LITERALLY SQUISHING HIM IN THE DOORWAY. The alarm is going off and the reception staff as well as my son and I can hear it from the third floor. I looked at the woman at the reception desk in horror and she says “don’t worry this is normal. It’s a new elevator” I said “are you nuts? This is NOT normal!” I ran up the stairs and my husband is literally prying the doors open. Not one person asked if he was ok, injured, nothing. Whoever owns this place does not care about the quality of his business. This is disgusting. The room was over $160/ night for less than cleanly conditions. This is not the kind of hotel that provides safety to thier guests if they think broken fixtures and moldy bathrooms are acceptable.

I am a huge fan of all Days Inn Hotels. It is my #1 choice of hotels when taking any road trips in both Canada and the US. I have never, ever had a bad/negative experience at ANY of their locations AND their levels of service and accomodations cannot be price-beat and they all honour CAA memberships for an additional price reduction.

This being said, The North Bay location definitely holds a very special place in my heart for the following reasons:

  1. I never have to stress about making a prior reservation, the Reception Staff Girls are extremely welcoming, inviting, genuinely friendly and helpful. They truly care and want to do everything possible to ensure the best possible experience for their guests. It's a very heart-warming to be there and feel and experience their love;
  2. All of The Days Inn locations are equipped with the best air conditioners ever! You are able to set it at 16 degrees, versus the usual 18 degrees available at other hotels....and it stays on all night long with various vents throughout the room, enabling you to lay in bed and feel a beautiful light cool breeze on your face...absolutely Fantastically Comfortable! ;
  3. I've had the pleasure of staying at the North Bay location multiple times and there are some rooms that also have lovely gas fireplaces in the room. I just recently stayed in a room with 2 queen beds and a fireplace...all this for under $120 (all taxes and fees included)...it honestly felt like it was worth $500!! The big, beautiful log corner fireplace was right beside the end of one of the 2 beds. I was able to sleep in such a way that my face was directly in front of it, about 1-2 meters away. It was definitely one of my best sleeps ever...in my entire life!! The slight noise and the dancing flames on all the walls and ceiling were extremely relaxing, soothing and therapeutic. Highly recommended for relaxing back and neck tense muscles after a full day of driving!!!! The fireplace does give out some heat, but not too much, along with the AC on at 16 degrees...it is still very enjoyable even during summer heat waves;
  4. The beds, abundant number of pillows and comforters are all of superior quality, very, very comfy! ;
  5. The rooms are also conveniently equipped with a fridge, microwave, digital alarm clock and a very easy to use coffee maker along with very good coffee;
  6. The beds very conveniently offer various forms of direct self-adjustable lighting which really adds a lot of value especially for people that have light sensitivities and/or have difficulties seeing;
  7. The washrooms are very clean and are fully stocked with many little extras you may need and plenty of towels;
  8. They offer a complimentary breakfast that provides just the right variety of options so that everyone is able to find something to their liking. I have to take a moment to add that the Reception Girls care so deeply for the Guests' complete satisfaction that they even leave the Cafeteria opened past the 10am closing time to ensure that everyone has a chance to get some breakfast;
  9. The kind Reception Girls also offer a complimentary 1 hour later check-out time (12pm versus the standard 11am). The option to purchase an extra hour, for check-out at 1pm, is also very conveniently available for only a small $10 fee;
  10. The view from the room is lovely with a Church and also very practical as it also offers a view of your vehicle;
  11. The hotel is very conveniently designed with both an elevator and stairs. It is also very easy to find your way on the entire property;
  12. Last, but definitely not least, The Hotel offers a delicious, must-try restaurant on the top floor which offers dine-in, take-out and delivery. Don't forget to mention that you are a guest at the Days Inn Hotel to receive a 10% discount, this on already very fair prices. I especially recommend this amazing restaurant if you are a true lover of real, authentic spicy food. Make sure to mention this when ordering so that they can make it extra spicy...you will most definitely NOT be...

Implying that we made all that mess from 11:30-3am. While there to have my sister cremated and bring her home We had full intentions on being there for 4 days. Thank god we got a nice place next day. He charged us 130 plus tax no offer for bereavement and we ended up having to pay 176 for 3 more nights. I’m a single mom living pay to pay. I could not afford to even be there it you have to do why you have to do for family. And I am the only one here right now until Aril. Nightmare!!! Anyone who says nice place is a lier! Must be fake reviews. You will catch something from this place don’t do it. 8pm Saturday - we arrived at this hotel to spend a night while visiting friends. We had a few drinks in the room and decided to go out to a bar.

10pm Saturday - we left to go to the bar.

2:30am Sunday - we arrive back at the hotel. We hung out for a bit and then passed out.

9am Sunday - my mom and brother woke up and got ready to leave. My brother couldn’t find his wallet anywhere and figured he must have lost it on our night out, so he quickly logged into his account and locked his card.

10am Sunday - my bf and I started to pack our stuff and get ready to leave when my mom called and asked me to grab her health card off the bedside table. I looked everywhere in the room and couldn’t find it.

10:30am Sunday - I head to the front desk to check out. I ask for them to keep an eye out for the “missing” health card and wallet and head on the road.

12pm Sunday - my brother sees 2 failed attempts at uses to his card (1 for $150 and another for $350–mind you this was before he locked the card it came in as a fraud text message way too late in the day so he never noticed and a $450 charge that actually went through to a PayPal account around 6am (we were asleep in the room at this point) He quickly calls the bank to start an investigation and tries to cancel this transaction (which still hasn’t happened yet as of Tuesday)

12pm Monday - my mom checks every bag and her car for her health card and still can’t find it so she calls the hotel and asks if they found it. SURPRISE, they did indeed find it (god knows where because it was NOT in the room)

11am Tuesday - she heads over to the hotel to pick up her health card and asks if she can see the cameras for footage on the missing wallet (thinking maybe it was dropped on the ground there and we would be able to catch the culprit on the $450 charge) the man working asks what for and she mentions the wallet (she mentions no name or anything) and he pulls it out quickly without hesitation. She asks him to open it and everything (including his bank card that just had a $450 charge on it while it was missing) is still in the wallet. He obviously didn’t want to give it to my mom so my brother is on his way to grab it after work.

Unfortunately there seems to be some kind of scam going on at this hotel as I know for a fact that the room was empty when I left and have no idea how they got ahold of the health card and wallet and I do not recommend staying...
