Nice food, but the service was awful!
6 of our friends and I entered the restaurant around 6:45 and asked for a table of 7. The waitress said that it will be a bit of a wait because we have a big table (of Kids), so we said we were happy to wait. The waitress did look a bit flustered and said okay come back in about an hour, then mentioned we will call you if a table is ready earlier. We called them exactly an hour later while at the bar to check and the waitress told us (after a lot of back and forth with her colleague), she asked us to come at 8:30, we said okay. 20 minutes later, we received a call to say we can no longer accommodate our booking! At this point, they made us wait nearly 2 hours to only tell us they couldn't accommodate us!!
I called back understandably concerned and frustrated (as nowhere is open now) asking why they made us wait almost 2 hours to only tell us they were unable to seat us. They then changed their mind and said, “oh just come for 8:30”
Some of us arrived at 8:20 (and the rest 5 mins later) to ensure we were early to be greeted by waiter/kitchen staff giving us extremely dirty looks! We got in and the waitress said, can I help you? I said we have a table for 7 - She then replied, no that was cancelled!!! I said, no I called you and someone told me to arrive for 8:30 - “oh that was you on the phone” then proceeded to walk away.. They eventually sat us down and with an undertone said the kitchens’ closing, so you need to order now. We hadn't even taken our jackets off..
The food was served and was okay, pasta was a bit over cooked but we were so hungry that we ate it all.
To the servers: If you work in hospitality, understand the capacity of where you work! If you can't accommodate a table of 7, then be clear and just refuse us from the outset!!
100% will avoid this pace next time...
Read moreFeb 28/2024 We waited for the restaurant to open at 4:30 PM. When we entered, we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. We were seated at a table for two, against a solid wall, no windows, I would deem it to be the most undesirable seat in the house. There were several tables by windows that sat 4. Okay, I get it, there was just two of us even though we would’ve finished our meal before the supper crowd came in. I then asked if we could be seated by a window in the lounge area. Again we were the only people in the restaurant. The waiter said sure, and seated us by a half window. My husband had a view, and I sat beside the solid wall with no view. Right behind us was an open table for two with a full window. When we were well into our meal, he sat two ladies in that seat with a view. At that time the entire restaurant was only 5% occupied.
My point is, we love going to Sun Peaks for the ambience. I enjoy the atmosphere of the ski village. I like to linger over a cocktail and enjoy the experience. We didn’t even bother to order a drink, ate our food and left within a half hour. I won’t ever go back to this place, because of the waiter’s lack of accommodation with us; being the ONLY customers in the establishment. The food wasn’t spectacular and the menu was basic. No lasagne, no pizza, no linguine, no ravioli. No bread...
Read moreDrove 9 hours to Sun Peak because we reserved a condo. My husband and I were starving so we found Capones Italian Kitchen in the Village. We've never been there so when we walked in, they asked if we had any reservations which we didn't. The restaurant looked like an upper class establishment. We looked around and out of about 40 tables, only 2 were occupied (so why would we need reservations). They sat us down and we ordered our meal. First of all I've never been to an Italian restaurant where you had to pay for bread with your meal. Italians always serve bread with their meals. When our dinner arrived, I noticed I had a long dark hair on my plate when the server placed it in front of me. I brought it to her attention which she quickly removed the plate. So while I had to wait for a new dinner my husband had to eat his dinner alone so it wouldn't get cold. He finished his dinner and my dinner finally came which I had to eat alone. The waitress did apologize for the hair but because of our experience and having to eat alone, they didn't even offer to reduce the price of the meal. For what appeared to be a high class restaurant, they sure don't know how to treat their customers. If you want good treatment and nothing foreign in your meal, I'd find a...
