I had high hopes for the restaurant as the atmosphere and menu seemed very appealing. I wanted to share a really disappointing experience that we had this evening that left a “bad taste”, though. The atmosphere was nice, but service was frankly bad.
After being totally brushed off by the host upon entering (he didn’t even show us to the reserved table where our family was seated and just expected us to find it ourselves), our whole group ordered their meals, and my husband specifically asked to bring out the dishes at the same time. All of the meals arrived except my meal, and we asked her where it was. She said she thought it was coming out later (why?) and it’ll be at least another 10-15 minutes. 20+ minutes passed and everyone had finished their meal but my meal NEVER even came. By the time she finally brought it out, I told her to honestly just pack it up because I didn’t want to eat alone when everyone was now done eating. I literally sat in that restaurant between 5pm-6:30 for my dish to arrive when everyone else in the group had finished their meal and almost finished dessert. I got to just sit there hungry and not eat?
She brought out the meal (which was $50 for the one dish after tax) now packaged up to go like a McDonalds take out. I told her I honestly was disappointed and expected the meal to be comped at this point. She was laughing and smiling even though the situation was obviously NOT funny. She sent out the Manager to talk to me.
The manager came out and was very rude. She told me “she couldn’t let me take this meal to go unless I paid at least 50% and the best she could do is a discount”. I politely and calmly explained that I expected more when the meal is like $50 and I sat here hungry while my whole group finished their meals. She awkwardly shuffled and said “ok I’ll go talk to the manager and be right back”. SHE LITERALLY WAS THE MANAGER, and was wearing a “manager” name tag. It seemed like she was just trying to shove the responsibility off onto someone else so the decision wasn’t “on her”. Then 30 minutes passed and she NEVER even came back. My father in law had to go find a staff member and ask directly what was going on.
I’m now at home eating my cold duck breast take out and while the food is quite tasty in many ways, the duck breast is rather raw and rubbery in texture (probably from rushing to get the meal out of the kitchen). I can already feel a stomach ache coming on honestly.
We likely won’t be returning as despite the nice atmosphere, that service was simply horrendous and an extremely embarrassing representation of the restaurant. The service we receive was absolutely in no way up to standard especially in context to price of the food at this restaurant. I’ve gotten 10x better service at the local greasy fish and chip. I’m a polite and patient person and am quite understanding, but this behaviour was totally...
Read moreThis is a truly beautiful space. I was lured to visit as they have a “Winter wonderland” advertised over Christmas for the beautiful patio and featured a fondue only available on the patio so I reserved there. Sadly, the weather was blustery so we were told the servers would not service that space so we were moved inside where the fondue was not available.
They have a promising happy hour! We ordered the calamari which was large and quite moist. I suppose I like a crispy tentacle vs this style. There were lovely crispy kale bits with it that stole the show. Both would have benefited from fresh lemon. I ordered the signature cocktail which was a blueberry negroni that was extremely bitter, however my husbands old fashion was spot on and very tasty. I had checked the menu online before coming and we took advantage of the Happy hour “Cocktail pitcher/$24” and ordered the sangria. It was very tasty and paired with the entree well.
We each got the 10 oz steak, fingerling potatoes and veggies. I found it very strange we were given slightly serrated butter knives instead of steak knives. As ridiculous as it sounds it really took a long time to even cut the stems of the broccoli let alone the steak. The Demi was delightful. The dish was ok. Everything lacked seasoning, though, and the tables did not have salt or pepper. There was a small pinch of coarse salt offered on the plate. Quite underwhelming at $50/plate.
We opted to go elsewhere for desert and got our bill. I noted the calamari and Sangria weren’t representing the happy hour price so I asked for an adjustment. The calamari was reduced but I was told the sangria wasn’t on special and only the “Wild Sbagliato” was considered part of the happy hour. I’ve attached photos of the menu’s as that was misleading as it didn’t specify. When I asked the waiter about it he was dismissive.
I feel this place has a lot of potential and perhaps we had an unfortunate series of events that let down our experience. This was meant to be a special night out together with our parents Christmas present and it fell flat. My husband actually said “I wish I...
Read moreEverything with the room and stay was excellent. Until the morning when we we're met with racist service and discrimination from Wayne the host at the brunch restaurant. We went down 3 of us to have brunch. We were on the walkway ramp and were there waiting to be places and a Asian couple with 2 children came up the stairs. Instead of helping the next customer which would have been us. Wayne decided to assist the asian family. Which I was like it is what it is. He sat them then returned to seat us. Wayne Said I will have to check with the kitchen and went away for several minutes and than came back and said the kitchen is overwhelmed and we are going to have to wait about 15 min to seat you. I said seriously he said yes. We backed up on to the ramp and discussed the situation and if we had time to wait. We'll as we we're discussing this another family came up the stairs and Wayne took them to be seated and took them to the out side part. This did make me very upset I went to the desk to check out and asked to speak with a manager. The hotel manager came out and asked me to speak with the restaurant manager. I took her up to Wayne and explained how I felt this was discrimination and she said no it wasn't it was.just a mistake??? A mistake??? I tell you 15 min wait I sit the next family and the family before you directly??? How is this a mistake? As the more frustrated I got she started to just laugh at me and say this is not discrimination it was just a mistake. I explained how I would be sure to leave a review and let everyone know about my experience and she laughed so as she did this I decided to take her picture and that of Wayne she said I can't do that and snatched my phone out of my hand I snatched it back and said excuse her. She than continued to be nothing but rude. This establishment was so great until this experience and they should not be allowed to work in hospitality and what a poor example of leadership and management from your restaurant staff. Just thought you should know about this experience and how...
