I’ve visited this cafe twice, and my second visit will absolutely be my last. The service I received was shockingly bad, especially for a place that charges premium prices.
I stood at the front counter for a solid five minutes while the male barista-in-training not only made eye contact with me but deliberately ignored me. Instead of taking my order, he disappeared into the back to spray something on the counter, wandered around, then came back out to chat casually with another barista all while I was clearly waiting. He finally decided to acknowledge me and take my order after wasting my time. To make matters worse, the customer who walked in right after me had their order taken immediately with no delay.
This wasn’t a case of being busy or overwhelmed. He was not handling any other orders. He simply chose not to serve me until it suited him. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in hospitality, especially when you’re asking customers to tip on top of overpriced food and drinks.
A cafe that charges this much should be delivering attentive, respectful service not attitude, neglect, and indifference. If management cares at all about their reputation, they should seriously retrain this barista and reflect on how their staff treats paying customers.
Save yourself the frustration and spend your money somewhere that actually values...
Read moreI needed a coffee place to kill some time as I waited for someone. Walked here with my baby stroller and we were nearly the only customers. The service was great, and the matcha latte was one of the best I've ever had. As the outdoor staircase in front leads to the entrance, if you're a wheelchair user or have a stroller or otherwise can't use the stairs, you have to go through the lobby, go to the elevator, go to P1 (I had to ask a staff member which level it was as there wasn't a sign), take the left corner door, go through the heavy wood door which isn't automatic and would be difficult to open with a wheelchair, and you'll find the Cafe.
Because most customers grab and go back to their hotel rooms, this is a lovely quiet Cafe if you're looking for some peace and quiet steps away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. It was pricey - $16 for a latte and chia/fruit cup, but I feel like it is probably comparable to other coffee...
Read moreWe usually visit Victoria every year for a week or so. We have enjoyed the out of the way, quiet and non rushed coffee shop. Every day we would have either lunch or an afternoon coffee break there. Fresh baked goods are delicious!! Employees are ever changing but are usually well trained. Our recent visit, all was the same as expected. BUT they have hit the customer with both inflated pricing and shrink-flated beverages. Due to this we only visited the Courtyard Cafe once, as we shifted our business to StarBucks and saved $8 or more on each visit. We were quite disappointed about having to make the change. Should have we just gone to the restaurant for service at the same price?
Note: Keep in mind that a lot of customers are not familiar with the layout of the Hotel. Would suggest clearer directions to the washrooms once you exit the elevator at...
