I stopped into Lush as I was passing by on my way down to Victoria harbour to take a flight home to Vancouver. When I walked in, it appeared to be just me and maybe one other customer and I saw at least two sales people working. No one acknowledged me as I walked into the store nor as I walked around, browsing for about 10 minutes. Luckily, I knew what I wanted and eventually found the massage bar I wanted to purchase. I was in this section of the store for awhile looking at different bars and again no one came up to greet me or ask if I needed help. I eventually grabbed what I was looking for and headed up to the cash. The person on cash didn’t acknowledge me at first just kept putting prices on/wrapping items. They didn’t ask me if I found what I was looking for or really anything beyond how I wanted to pay. I did ask them where I could find the tins for the massage bars because there was none at the bar display. The salesperson at cash gave me a general description of where they were and when I couldn’t find them, seemed to scoff at this. At no point did they stop wrapping/putting prices on items while talking to me and they certainly didn’t offer to grab one for me. At this point I just wanted to pay and get out. Again, there was no one except me waiting to pay nor could I see any other customers in the store. I mentioned this info because this is a store that is very much in the heart of the tourist district of Victoria and I would expect that they would be used to having a store full of customers and still delivering good service. I’ve also worked on an off in retail for over 20 years so I have a lot of patience and understanding when a store is busy, but I don’t have that same understanding when I am the only person in the store and getting terrible service. I’m giving two stars only because I like the products...
Read moreAshlee is the kind of employee most businesses I think dream of having. As a long term customer of Lush stores with very specific tastes, every time I have had the benefit of having Ashlee assist me at this and other locations, I not only find my favourites in the store but I am always opened up to new products with compatible scents and the kind of experiences I am looking for.
While always expressing a kind and cheerful disposition, Ashlee never feels fake, insincere or purely sales driven. While taking me around the store and showing me products that she feels I might enjoy(98% success rate I might add), she still manages to help other customers with the same level of patience, deep product knowledge and enthusiasm. All this while also helping guide new employees with customers and questions about products. I mean what are we doing here? Movies have been made about people that do less.
Ashlee seems like a completely genuine person who actually has an interest in not only the products of Lush but also the successful running of a store which includes sales(of course), customer satisfaction(an understatement with her level of service), a positive but also productive employee environment(rarer and rarer these days,) as well as making sure that when a person walks into and out of her store they feel seen, cared for, excited to try new things and most important happy with their purchases.
I don’t know how or if you reward exceptional employees Lush. If you don’t you need to make an exception here and if you do you need to multiply it for Ashlee. Whatever this woman does in life I have no doubt she will be successful and help a lot of people. You(Lush I’m talking to you) should feel lucky each day she spends in one of your stores as an...
Read moreI’ve been a fan of Lush for 20 years. I always look forward to shopping for quality pampering products in a store that smells so delicious. Lush has been a special part of my many trips to Victoria, Vancouver, & Whistler, Canada from Seattle. I also love finding Lush in cities across Europe. Last week I was in Victoria for the first time since my husband died tragically 3 years ago. Although Victoria was still incredibly beautiful, it was an emotionally difficult visit. Thankfully I was able to finally get to Lush an hour before needing to leave for the ferry. I was greeted warmly & allowed to take all the time I needed to look around. As I gathered a few favorite products, Colin introduced himself & shared some very helpful product info with me. Since I was lingering & he was shelving new products (and the store wasn’t busy at that moment,) he and I chatted about Lush & Victoria, making me feel welcome. I am so grateful to Colin for his kind & gracious spirit. As I checked out, he generously put a few samples in my bag of the new items we’d talked about earlier. I know to many people Lush is just a store, but on Thursday, July 14, 2022, my experience in the Lush in Victoria, BC, thanks to Colin, helped infuse my painful first visit to Victoria without my husband, with a comforting & beautifully smelling heartwarming hug of loveliness. (Am...
