First, this is not a hotel or the definition of hotel in the dictionary, but rather 3 small cottages/Bungalow rooms. ||We arrived around 9:30 am and paid the hotel bill. Our room was not ready so we went to breakfast. After returning from breakfast, the checkin/cleaning lady took us to our room. The room was unbearable hot just to be in room for 5 minutes, it must have been over 100 degrees. After opening the sliding glass door, there was absolutely NO breeze at all with the door open. After opening the sliding door we found the door would not lock and the glass came apart from the door frame. Also, there was no screen. As soon as we walked on the patio a couple of wet dogs came up on the patio and we had to shut the sliding door to keep them from entering. It was unbearable to stay in the room more than 5 minutes with or without door open as no breeze. The checkin lady was aware that the door would not lock and told us that the area was safe and we did not have to worry about locking the door. I asked the check-in lady to contact the owner about repairing the door that this was not satisfactory. Finally the owner brother showed up and gave us the same tune that the area was safe and not to worry about locking the door. He said the last people that were there broke the door (he was aware the door would not lock). We insisted the door should be repaired. The owner brother left and later the owner showed up and promised he would have door repaired. He did not think it was necessary to repair door either, but we were told the lock to the door would be repaired and the repairman was coming right away. We also told the owner how unbearably hot the room was with no screen to keep mosquitoes and meandering dogs out. On Booking.com correspondence with the owner prior to arrival, I had questioned the owner about no air condition and he said he would provide a portable a/c for USD 20 if we needed it. Now the owner said portable a/c WOULD NOT keep room cool enough so that was not an option. So with that information, we took a taxi downtown leaving our luggage unlocked in the room, we felt like we needed a nap from our flight, but it was just too hot in the room. We came back in afternoon and door lock was still not repaired. Later the owner brother showed up again and said he would have door repaired. We told him the room was unbearable hot and there was no screen to keep mosquitoes and meandering dogs out at night when we were sleeping. How are we going to sleep with the door shut as it was over 100 degrees in the room? (There are a lot of loose dogs in Easter Island.) It was too hot to stay in the room so we decided to eat dinner at the hotel. (It’s really not a hotel but more like a B&B, but just 3 small Bungalow/cottage rooms). After we ate dinner, the door still was not repaired and no portable a/c as promised in writing on Booking.com. At this point, we concluded the door was not going to be repaired or anytime soon. The door lock looked like it had been broken for some time and it seemed to me other customers had to put up with the same thing. So we had no choice but to find another hotel. I booked another place on booking.com on my phone. Therefore, we had to pay for two hotels!!! I certainly would not choose this hotel (bungalow) ever again if we came back to...
Read moreThis place was great. Perfect location on the water. Outstanding service. Reasonably priced and very quaint. Two very cool brothers (Jose and Rafael) run and know the island very well. Rafael will pick you up from the airport, which is less than 15 minutes away, and help you get "lei-ed." They offer breakfast with freshly made scrambled eggs, freshly made crepes, freshly brewed coffee and freshly squeezed local fruits among other delicious food. Which btw is waiting for you when you arrive to your table in the morning. The chef in the back makes delicious pizza, which when you order a pizza it comes with two local beers. While the food took a little while to come out, but it was well worth it. Gave you time to converse with your party, enjoy a beverage and the amazing view the dining area affords. (Every where on the resort affords an amazing view. including from your room, which has a balcony that you're compelled to step out on to every morning).Being from NY, I can say that the pizza was delicious. Ceviche was on point and so fresh. If you so chose, Jose will take you on a tour of the entire island, show you some secret and secluded spots as well as drop some knowledge on you about them. My party and I spend two full days with him and he was a lot of fun and a good conversationalist. They will also arrange other excursions for you like scuba diving, surfing (which they know the best spots for beginners and those who are advanced), snorkeling, hikes, spearing fishing and what ever else you can think of. One thing the traveler should know, is wifi is a little weak. However, service on the entire island and wifi every is weak. Being on this island and the view you have should be enough of a reason to get away the distraction of the internet. Both Rafael and Jose can be your personal google when it comes to anything to do on the island. If you are lucky enough to visit this beautiful island, you will be doing yourself a disservice not to stay at this location or at the very least book excursions and trips with these two...
