This restaurant truly deserves the high praise it is receiving here on Google Maps reviews. We chose it for its wonderful terrace overlooking the sea and the sunset and were very pleasantly surprise by the quality of the food, its presentation and the outstanding service we received. The restaurant isn't cheap, but nothing on Rapa Nui is, and at its price point it offers much more gourmet cuisine than most, if not all, other restaurants. Every dish we tried was a smashing hit, from the Tuna and Salmon Carpaccio, to a marvelous Tuna Tartare to a masterfully prepared "surf and turf" risotto. And you can also ask to prepare something for you that is not on the menu, as we did requesting a simple catch of the day fish steak with roasted vegetables. They accepted our request with a smile and brought out another great dish. All the dishes are also very nicely plated and presented, but it is the level of service that stands out, with everyone being always attentive, smiling, providing suggestions if asked and so on. Ah, don't forget the cocktails as there is possibly nothing better than a Pisco Sour to cap off an evening on a restaurant terrace overlooking the sea. Highly...
Read moreYou will love this enchanting and impressive place. Like most tourists visiting Rapa Nui, we were only here for a few days. With all the restaurants to choose from in Hanga Roa, we feel extraordinarily lucky to have stumbled upon Taha Tai. Someone in the kitchen is an artist with technical skills to match their imagination. We tried it on our third night and were so impressed by the food, the view and the genuinely warm service that we returned on our last night on the island. The braised lamb is the best I’ve ever had and the steak risotto was perfect. The ribs just slide off the bone in a barbecue sauce made with local honey. The guy at the full bar is no rookie and the finalé for was this dessert suggested by our server. It’s the glazed apple on the menu but that description doesn’t do it justice. It’s a fresh crêpe with thin, sliced apples, arranged in a wheel under a glaze decorated with whipped cream, artisan ice cream in the center and chocolate shavings. Definitely enough to share for three or four people after an already amazing meal. Seriously folks do not miss this place as part of your Rapa...
Read moreThe food here was lovely and the views from the terrace tables out to see are stunning. And a great place to see the sunset. And 3 times a week they put a traditional performance of Rapa Nui dancing and singing and you can have your meal at tables in front of the stage whilst they are performing - and you get a chance at the end to go up on stage for a photo... why not we were on holiday. It was a great evening, well worth...
