I arrived with my friend for 5 days visit on the Island. On the second day we moved from our hostel to Mihinoa Camping. ||||First of all, the facility itself is quiet big, with very big kitchen and most important- you have the best view in town from your tent to the ocean.||The camping is very comfortable, no stones or sand but only grass which is the most comfortable thing for camping.||It also provides alot of sitting areas to sit infront of the ocean.||Kitche is well equipped. You have a personal locker with personal tools(plate, bowl, glass, cutlery).||||To continue with, you have a shared bathroom with enough place so you don't have to worry, and you have hot water!||The only downside is that you have to bring your own toilet paper or pay(if you stay in the hostel you get toilet paper for free)||||The location is amazing. 5 minutes from the main street, 15 minutes from Tahai for sunset, 10 minutes from the port.||||They offer also hostel service which is very affordable. Very comfortable beds, 4 people in the room, no bunk beds only single beds! And the price is the cheapest among the hostels in the area.||||And the last part of this amazing place -is the hostel manager, Rene Ruvio.||I don't have enough words to describe this amazing man. So kidness, thoughtful, friendly. I spent about a hour of talk with him, he is truly amazing. He will take care for you for whatever you need. ||He arranged me a transfer from the other hostel to his for free, he provides airpot shuttle for no extra charge.||I had a problem with my flight, and Latam required me to arrive the airport as fast as I can or I miss the flight until the next flight which was two weeks from that day. Rene took me with his private car, and helped me arrive on time. He made my stay the best experience on the Island.||Thank you so much Rene.||||||If by somehow I return to the Island, I come to this...
Read moreI cannot say enough great things about Mihinoa Campsite. We visited in late July 2019 and the weather was amazing. We originally booked a different location to camp, but walked off the location within 1 hour of arrival. We came across Mihinoa Campsite and were very thankful. We brought our own camping gear. The facilities were great and I am glad they were environmentally friendly. The people who were camping were of the same travelling mindset and we met many new friends at the site. We were on Rapa Nui for 5 days. The walk to the city wasn't too far and we walked a couple of times a day to get fresh groceries. The campsite was perfectly located right across from a beautiful lookout. One day some vacationers asked if I was camping right behind the look-out and they expressed their jealousy; they mentioned the price of their lodging (about 10x the campsite amount) and how their location was in town without a view. We ended up just chilling on the campsite for almost 1.5 days to just read, take in the ocean breeze, and watch the crashing waves; it was too beautiful to not just relax on site. All of the employees of the campsite were very helpful and polite; there was always someone on site to answer any questions or give guidance on recommendations for daily activities. I could go on and on about my positive experience, but in the end, I have nothing negative to say about the campsite other than I wish I was not back to normal...
Read moreWith the possible exception of the Hostal Tojika next door, this is the best place to stay on Rapa Nui. The location is perfect, right on the ocean and easy walking distance to town (Hanga Roa). The staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very relaxed.||A few tips: 1. Staff will pick you up and drop you off at the nearby airport, just give them 24 hrs notice. 2. Internet is slow to non-existent. Just embrace this about Rapa Nui. 3. Do NOT stay in P3 or P4. These rooms are part of the reception room, where everyone hangs out charging phones and hoping for internet. You will have no privacy and no peace. 4. There is only hot water for certain times of the morning and evening, but you have plenty of time for a shower. 5. There is a laundry service (US$7-10) but give them 48 hours, since they do not have a dryer. 6. If you rent a car (and you should for a day if you want to see all the Moai) do so next door as soon as you can.||This is a wonderful and very inexpensive way to enjoy Rapa Nui. We will...
