If you are just arriving in Santiago (or in Chile, as I was), go stay with Pamela (you can pick up a taxi from the designated spot at the station - only get an official one, only a few accept cards). She could not be more welcoming or helpful. She patiently answered all my questions and told me where to explore locally (Barrio Italia is on the doorstep and has ALL THE FOOD and bars and bars and bars. You are also close to the funicular). She also explained where wasn't safe in the city and gave me security tips, which were very helpful. Pamela also took the time to show me around the beautiful old house which was quiet and cool. It has two terraces and two kitchens and guests are really welcome to make themselves at home. My single room was a bit small, but I am a bit small so it was OK. It was quiet and so cool at night that I didn't need a fan or aircon which made a very welcome change. My bathroom was shared, but very clean and with everything provided and there was never anyone else in mine when I wanted to use it. The house is in a beautiful area and is well-connected by metro, which is very clean and...
Read moreMy stay in Casa La Barca was absolutely flawless and Pamela really makes you feel like home! The traditional 1929 house is super charming, preserving all the vintage features but restored to offer all the necessary comfort. I stayed in more than one room (by my choice) and they were equally comfortable, with all the necessary appliances, heaters and great bedding. showers are great also! The street is pretty calm, so it’s easy to get great nights of sleep. I really loved the location, traditional neighborhood in Santiago, many nice things around on a short walk and nearby subway/buses to take you anywhere, it’s also within the pickup zone of all tours I took for Santiago surroundings (Valle Nevado, wineries, Valparaiso).|Pamela, the owner, and Chichi, her super fluffy cat, are great hosts! lol|She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed during my stay, including great recommendations of the city and very nice conversations :) Her kindness, warmth and availability really made all the difference on my experience in Santiago, hope to...
Read moreGreat stay for two nights while we were in Santiago after hiking in Patagonia. Pamela runs the hostel (that feels like a hotel), speaks good English if you need it, and is like a caring aunt. We stayed in the room with the bathroom, but our travel companions had a room with a shared bath (four rooms upstairs with 2 baths and our room had a bathroom so you’re not sharing with a ton of people). We loved the decor (lock box, chairs, clothes rack) of the room. There was AC and heating units in our room. Breakfast was delicious (Pamela makes homemade breads). You can have breakfast at whatever time in the morning and in whatever room you want (outdoor patio, terrace, your room, etc). Pamela also has a locked gate and front door (she provides keys to the guests) in addition to your locked room so it felt very safe even though the area felt extremely safe. Lastly, Pamela was very communicative before and during our stay via WhatsApp. Would recommend this place to anyone...
