Plaza Baquedano — Attraction in Providencia

It’s so sad what’s happening in Chile, because there’s nothing to see in this Plaza anymore. The statue with a horse isn’t there, it was probably toppled down and removed, and the only thing remaining is a concrete block full of tagging (the ugly type of graffiti). You can spot tagging in all Santiago and is turning what was once a beautiful city in a decadent landscape. It’s one thing to manifest and to ask for improvements for your country, but deprecating public and private property is not the way to do it. Nice place, located next to the turri buildings and the Teatro de la Universidad de Chile. Plaza baquedano divided the city, to the east, Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura and Lo Barnechea are districts for the high class or people that have money to pay. And to the western side the city starts to get poor or middle class. In its current state, the whole area its in the middle of a unspoken and constant repairing effort, halted due to the COVID contingency of 2020-2021. It looks like it will take some time for the sector to regain its brightness.. Now it is merely a passing point towards other nearby sites...
