My review is very negative for two unacceptable reasons:||1) My reservation was for a room with "sea view" but that wasn't true. The only thing that was possible to see from the windows was the roof of the neighbour's house. ||I attached a photo to this review so you can see by yourself the real view from my window and verify the scam I was victim from this hostel. Me and my girlfriend were victim of a dishonest trick, be careful that - as happened in our case - this hostel couldn't offer you what it promises.||2) The external door of the room was broken and it was possible to close it only locking it by the key. Meanwhile my girlfriend was having a shower I had to go out two minutes so I was forced to lock the door and take the key with me because otherwise the door couldn't close. ||It means two things: a) Because the door was facing the street I couldn't leave the door opened allowing anybody to enter freely in the room while a girl was having shower; b) Because I had to lock the door, in case of any danger my girlfriend would have been blocked in the room without any possibility to escape. Luckily nothing happened during that period I had to go out, but the safety of my girlfriend wasn't guaranteed from the hostal.||Thus Hostel Fernando de Magalhaes in Punta Arenas in just one night of journey:||- made a scam (offered a room with sea view but in the end there wasn't any sea view)||- didn't guarantee the security of their guest.||I added a 2nd star to the rating only because breakfast was good and...

Read moreWe only stayed for one night but it was a particularly positive experience. The owner gave us some suggestions for places to eat and arranged for a taxi to the airport. Sure, these seem like basic things for someone who runs a hostal to do, but his attitude was energetic and he enthusiastically engaged in conversation despite my broken Spanish. The room was more than acceptable and the location was quiet (although some enthusiastic, politically inclined Chilenos drove down the nearby main street with horns honking but I'm assuming that isn't a permanent feature of the...
