Unbelievable seafood!
This tiny restaurant is situated upstairs from a fresh seafood market so we thought that the ingredients would be super fresh and they were. It’s an industrial building so not fancy by any means. There are about 6 small restaurants all side by side in a relatively small space
We were seated next to the window overlooking Magellan strait, which wasn’t really picturesque. The servers were very polite and attentive. The menu was small and not quite as impressive as the tourists next door who were eating a whole king crab.
We started with the crab (centolla) empanadas which were absolutely amazing. They were huge and stuffed with large portions of king crab and cheese with a delightful fresh outer pastry. Definitely the best empanadas so far on our Patagonia tour. My daughter ordered the centolla / crab chupe (stew) which sounded a bit strange, but again we were delighted by a delicious dish of mostly crab baked in a breaded sauce. I ordered the conger soup, which was a large eel steak with potato in a very mild and light broth with very tasty seasoning. It complemented the centolla chupe very well, as the latter was quite rich.
We had mango smoothies with the dinner. This dinner was by far the tastiest we have had in Patagonia and perhaps the best meal I have had in a year. The price was very reasonable at 46 usd for 2. It is very unfortunate that we have an all day penguin tour tomorrow then leaving early the next day, or for sure we...
Read moreWe were recommended to eat here by a local guide as we were only staying one night before moving on. What a great tip that was. Even though it is small, the service is excellent, the food is cooked to order and it is delicious. We had grilled salmon and grilled beef, both with chips, hot and delicious along with Austral beers. Marcia is a wonderful cook and a very nice lady who makes sure she cooks food how you prefer it. Her english is pretty good. They only open during the day and close at 5:45pm but it is well worth...
Read moreOur best meal in Chile so far. Tucked away on the second floor of the central market in Punta Arenas this 6 table restaurant turns out incredibly flavorful food. We had their seafood soup, grilled lamb (so good we had two orders) and a couple of their empanadas (crab & queso and jamon & queso) which they stuffed and fried in front of us.
Without a doubt our best meal of the trip so far (including stays in Santiago as well as Puerto...
