My boyfriend and I booked a room with private bathroom here for one night when we came back from our hiking trip in Torres del Paine national park. When we came, one of the staff showed us the room but refused to give us the key!!! She said the key must be kept at the checkin area and there is an automatic lock on the door we could use to lock our room. If we decide to go out and come back, we could take the key from them to open our room but must not keep it!?! We find this very odd so we decided to keep our most valuable belongings with us when we went out. However, when we came back, we realized someone had come into our room when we were not there and moved our backpacks!!?! We decided to stay regardless. However, in the following morning, when we checked out, we wanted to pay for the room in US dollars since the owner said we could. The owner had told us the previous day that for 2 people it was 50 dollars, but we did not have exact change so we gave them $60. The owner's wife, who was very very RUDE and CONDESCENDING, just took our money while talking on the phone without even wanting to give us back 10 dollars. When we asked, she simply said she did not have change. Does that mean she could keep everything?!?! I have never seen such entitlement and rudeness in hospitality service. Our previous hostal owner in Puerto Natales, where we stayed for 2 nights, insisted on giving us back our change even though it was only 300 CLP (5 dollars). We were so shocked so we decided to pay in CLP instead. The woman this time asked for 40000CLP even though 5 minutes earlier she said it was a little more than 30000CLP. We were so appalled so we just gave her what she wanted and walked away. |Pleaseeeee avoid this place if you can. Horrible service, rude and entitled owners!!!! And the price is too high for what you get -- just a basic patched up room with so...

Read moreI arrived at 02:00 and was met by the very nice owner and given the room with two twin beds off the dining room (I'd taken a private room w bathroom). The hostal was toasty warm, bed comfortable, clean, great hot shower with lots of pressure, simple but good breakfast (toast, ham, cheese, butter and jam, hot milk, coffee/tea). There were a few esthetics that could have been improved in my room but no big deal. Well located. ...
