Hoiri Ckunza — Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama

The only good thing about this hotel is its excellent location. |The rest... terrible, and on top of it all, you pay too much for it - around 80 US dollars per night.|My friend and I stayed at this hotel because we unfortunately had no choice, after having arrived to San Pedro late afternoon and realizing that our first choice of hotel totally disappointed us and was too faraway from downtown San Pedro.|I do NOT recommend this place and I am never staying here again.|The breakfast is embarrassing - a few slices of toasted bread, some scrambled eggs (when they weren't too lazy to prepare some), one slice of cheese and ham, a glass of juice and some coffee or tea. THAT'S IT. For 80 bucks a night, I would expect MORE.|The facilities are SO basic, hated the shower and they don't do such a great job cleaning the rooms - bed sheets were dirty, spider webs in every corner (yuck!), dead bugs on the floor and I have to say that the towels were of the poorest quality ever. Another thing.. shower pressure.. thumbs down. |An important thing to take into account is that the owner told us (at our last night!) that we could only pay our stay by cash. Agh! Overall, terribly disappointing to...

On the positive side the room was large, breakfast was reasonable and the staff was friendly.||There was no hot water at all. There were insufficient bedclothes. It was -10 degrees when we were at the observatory at 8pm. Our bed had one blanket. We asked for more but without success.||It was such a shame as the area is so amazing, has interesting attractions and is a one visit in a lifetime place. I couldn't wait to leave our room. We paid over $100US/night which would have been acceptable had we had either blankets...

I would've liked to score more as the staff are lively but at an exorbitant $110 a night I was expecting more. The fact that it is in the desert doesn't mean the minimum for guests. Rooms are ok, nothing special, with good showers. What disappointed me the most was breakfast, in a tiny room at the back. A few pieces of toast, processed cheese, tea/coffee. This it it.
