We spent some amazing days at San Pedro as guests of Hostal Desert, beginning with the cozy rooms until the space outside for a relaxation or even for having a snack time - you can find Chilean wine, cheeses (I recommend the local goat cheese), sausages and bread from Franchuteria, which deserves another review. Read moreI spent one night at Hostal Desert, having previously stayed at a slightly more expensive hostal down the road. Staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed me to check in early which was much appreciated. There is a spacious courtyard where you can lounge around and the communal kitchen, with freely available tea/coffee, was spotless. I had a room with an internal window onto the corridor which was rather dark and a little stuffy but was otherwise ok. Speedy wifi in the room and courtyard. As I had to leave early, a takeaway breakfast (cereal bar, fruit pot, juice, etc) was left at reception. Overall, a good choice...

I asked Hugo & he said he would get it, but never did. ||Overall decent service, but attitude was a bit off. Could be nicer. They did let me use the washing machine to wash clothes. Had to go around the corner to buy detergent. Box breakfasts in the early mornings were good.||Hugo was sarcastic too sometimes.
