We stayed here for three nights. The location is just outside of the main town but worked out well for us since it was easy to park our van outside the hostal. We could step out to see the stars or just drive 5 mins to be in complete darkness and stargaze. It was a 15 mins walk to Caracoles.||||The superior double room was spacious and clean with a mini fridge and cupboards. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean with toiletries and a hairdryer provided. There is a washing machine on site which can be used for washing clothes (extra charges). One can also use the clothes lines provided to dry clothes. The wifi was good too.||||Our host Javier was really attentive and helpful. He would make us a simple yet filling breakfast each morning, talking to us and giving us valuable tips about some places to see and restaurants we could try being vegetarians. He is fluent in English so there was no communication problem. He took very good care of us from offering us a thermos of coffee to take with us or packing us cans of water to take for the salt lagoon trip. The day we had checked out, Javier gave us a small room to wait or leave our luggage in. When we got late and had to hurry to the bus station to catch the bus, he drove us there. A big thank you to Javier for taking such good care of us and making it a memorable perfect stay.||||My Husband and I loved our stay here and recommend Hostol Solar for a...
Read moreWe have just finished an enjoyable four night stay at Hostal Solor and would highly recommend it.||Accommodation prices in San Pedro are not cheap, however in this context Solor was really good - comfortable rooms, good wifi, safety deposit boxes, electric blankets and it's nice and quiet. ||A basic breakfast (scrambled eggs, bread and jams, coffee and juice) was served between 8.00am and 10.00am and included in the price, and laundry is available, although at 3,000 pesos per kilo there are cheaper alternatives in the town. ||The only slight downside was the shower, it was fairly small and lacked a bit of pressure, however there was always hot water and it did the job okay. ||Location-wise, the hostel is located in the south-east of the town, however as San Pedro is so small it is only a ten minute walk at most to the main street, and it is less than five minutes walk from the bus terminal. ||Breakfast and housekeeping were done by the same female who was friendly but spoke little to no English, but it was always possible to get meaning across with some very basic Spanish. They also let us store our bags there until 9pm at night when our bus left town.||Would stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for quiet and comfortable accommodation in...
Read moreThis is an excellent hotel. When we were first dropped off by a transfer taxi from Calama airport (this cost 12000 pesos per person - when you go through baggage collection there are a few companies offering this same price, San Pedro De Atacama is about an hour away from Calama airport and this transfer takes you straight to your hotel), it feels like you have just been dropped off in the middle of nowhere and the hostel sign isn't clear as it's blocked by a bush. However, this was a lovely hotel with clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds with soft bedding and heated blankets! The breakfasts were great with warm bread and freshly made scrambled eggs. It's about a 10/15 minute walk to the main street which is really easy to find. Tea and coffee are available after 8 in the evening until the morning therefore it you are going on a tour at 4am or 6am you can help your self. The is also a nice outdoor area where you and sit and relax and our rooms were cleaned daily. WiFi was excellent and very fast. The owner doesn't speak any English but we managed to communicate fine. I would highly...
