Puna Hostel — Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama

Not a great experience. Stayed here in March, expensive hostel, and although the facilities are good, the guy the runs it is very unfriendly. I asked after my first night, to move to a bottom bunk, as the top bunks were a nightmare, super shaky, no plugs, no ladders to even get up to it! As I was staying for a week, I feel I was well within my rights to request a bottom bunk. For some reason, this was a major issue, so I moved my stuff out of my bed, he then put someone else in my bed, but still no bottom bunk. So I now had no bed. I got a worse top bunk. Eventually after 4 days, I got moved to a different room, with a bottom bunk, but 10 beds, despite me paying for a 6 dorm room. Super nice hostel, and the girls are really nice, but the service from the main guy, is really really poor. I communicated with him in Spanish, and still he seemed super confused as the what I wanted. It was not that confusing. Also I saw him be very rude to other guests. I would not stay here again, purely due...

Would like to start with the positives and say the staff was friendly, decent facilities, close to town and the place generally looks lovely.

I don't speak Spanish so maybe the staff were unable to inform me of this as they didn't speak English - but one of the nights the music from the night club next door didn't finish until 7AM!!! Ear plugs did nothing as it was only the bass and it rumbled the walls. I had to change hostels the next day and was unable to receive a refund for the nights I would no longer be staying there.

I'm all for party hostels, but I think this is really unacceptable and wouldn't have said anything if the music stopped at around 2-3am. I luckily didn't have any tours planned till late the next day, this really could have ruined it.

I'm not sure how much control they have over this, but I think jeopardising all your other customers' sleep for what I imagine is at most a minimal amount of people still partying at 7am is failing to provide the bare minimum...

Nice Hostel: Rooms are pretty and clean, with shared bathroom and one aditional bathroom on the halway Kitchen for cooking Benches in the halway (cushions would be great) People (guests and staff) are friendly

-Attendance of the staff (people ringing and waiting at the front door, hard to find during half of the day) Wifi not reliable The Disco on the other side of the dorm's wall ! Don't come if you want to get some sleep. Music and bass every night, with variable endings...
