HAZARDOUS APARTMENT FLAT 1721
Apartments Bellas Artes are set in a high rise buiding in the centre of Santiago about 15 miles (20 minute drive) from Santiago International Airport. We stayed in flat 1721 on the 17th floor. I wouldnt stay there again nor would I recommend it. It was dirty, unhygienic and not well equipped. The one good thing is that it has complimentary WiFi and the location is good.
Our 2 bedroom flat had a very small lounge/kitchen with a sofa bed and table. No TV in the main lounge. We had a private bathroom with bath and shower and a hairdryer. The bathroom was dirty on arrival with male footprints on the floor. The 3 big towels were washed out, old, rough and crusty. No hand towels were provided. No bathmat. No shower gel or shampoo. The shower is unique in that it cleans the ceiling at the same time as it cleans you! Water spurts everywhere making the tiled floor slippery enough to break your neck!
The kitchen had food on the floor from the previous renters, a dirty fridge, an unclean oven and microwave, and a kettle that leaked. It was not sufficiently resourced. No bowls or big plates, only side plates, and the cups and glasses were cracked and chipped. The drainer was broken and crusty with water scale. We didnt use it. The dining table had seen better days and the seats each had their very own designs of rips and tears bearing the stuffing underneath, which cut your legs.
In the main bedroom, there was a TV on the wall along with hairs in the bed and along the skirting boards. It was filthy. The linen had seen better days, the pillows were flat, the mattress soft, the bed squueked, and the bedside cabinets were sticky!!! I tried to touch as little as possible.
The small bedroom, which was more the size of a cupboard than a bedroom, though I'm sure Harry Potter would be impressed, had blood on the wall. We didn't use it, even though there was 3 of us.
Security is good, both for the apartment block and the flat itself which had double locking and bolts. It's such a shame, as with a lick of paint, some new furniture and a good scrub, this tiny flat could be cosy pad for a few...
Read moreFirstly, no one at this place speaks a word of english. Tried three times, first upon arrival and twice during the first two days to pay for our stay. Each time was told by the men working the front desk that we pay at check out. Then on the fourth day we have a note slipped under our door telling us to pay immediately. When we did go and pay they took double the amount out of my account. The apartment itself was in a shocking state. Lights not working, cracked tiles, a crack in the glass balcony door, wall paper peeling off, holes in walls, electric wall sockets hanging out, no air conditioning and a nail sticking out in the doorway to the bedroom. The apartment upon arrival was filthy, crumbs under the couch from i assume the previous guests. The whole place was visually dusty and the bathroom was dirty. Bed sheets also did not smell or look clean and there was only 2 pillows on the bed, both of which belonged in the bin. To top it all off, the rooftop pool that was advertised was drained and out of use. Cleaners came around for the first time on the fourth day of our stay and when they did come they came at random times during the day like 8 in the morning or 4:30 in the afternoon. Location is central but not worth the amount of suspicious men and homeless people that hang around in the entrance and surrounding area. Two weeks prior to our arrival we changed our booking to (regrettably) stay an extra 3 nights, this was confirmed through the booking website but not by the apartments. So on the day we would have originally checked out on, they deadlocked us out of a room (which our belongings where still in) and where told we had to check out. We continuously showed them our booking confirmation, but they would not accept it and would not take responsibility for their mistake. So then we had to pay extra to stay the 3 nights we had already booked for. Photos of these apartments are clearly outdated and this place is...
Read moreI agree with previous reviews, this apartment was very hard to find, for us this was all part of the adventure and the Chileans are so helpful we had someone stop us int he street to offer assistance.||||The front reception area speak absolutely no English and write down a number for you with charade directions. This actually means go to this floor and this room number. We finally found David who's English was limited (still better than my Spanish) however he was very helpful and friendly, provided us with a map of Santiago and walked us to our room so we didn't get lost again.||||The apartment had a fantastic view over the Andes and the sunsets were amazing from our kitchen and bedroom windows, the location was an absolute hit with us being walking distance from the Plaza De Armes, markets and Santa Lucia. Locals told us it was a very safe neighbourhood and we had no problems walking back late at night. It was also very close to numerous great restaurants. There was also a supermarket next door and across the road so catering for breakfast and lunch was very easy.||||The apartment set-up was basic, but accommodated to all our needs as you would expect for the...
