Hotel Santa Lucia — Hotel in Santiago

Decent place for the price. Not spotless, but clean enough. Entrance in a sort of mall hall way and an elevator off that hallway to the 4th floor lobby. Never entered a hotel this way so that was interesting but pretty common for the area. The front desk staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Possibly sketchy area at night, but during the day the entrance hallway opens up onto a positively alive market scene with hundreds of people in a full street market that blanketed the area. Cant beat the location, being only a couple blocks away from Plaza de Armas and Cerro (Hill) de Santa Lucia (which has a storied history and still has castle/fortress buildings peppering the grounds) I personally love climbing the Incan like hewn rocks steps found all over. The hotel entrance is only steps away from one of the main market walking streets. A fruit vendor helped me get my payment right when I tried to pay him too much (ie. 10x when I wasn't moving the decimal place far enough in currency conversions) The vendors we dealt with were all friendly and helpful. Most speak a bit of English and we speak a bit of Spanish so we were able to get along quite well with all. Some kiosks even accept smart phone wallet tap for payment. Secure and easy.

Edit: after perusing some other reviews, I should also mention that we had a room facing the street and it was quite noisy. Some early morning yelled conversations (arguments?), dog barking, a bit of traffic (although the street is designated for mostly pedestrian traffic/marketplace). For our family from a residential neighborhood in a small city this added to our experience (my kids love the vibrancy and we aren't too light of sleepers) but for someone just looking for shut eye it could likely...

Bom hotel. Boa localização. Camas confortáveis, edredon ótimo, cobertas boas. Carpete nos quartos e corredores mas são aspirados aparetemente diariamente e minha renite não atacaou hehe. Bom aquecedor. Banheiro e toalhas limpas e chuveiro quente e com ótima pressão. Wi-fi com ótimo sinal no 516. Contras: O hotel fica em uma galeria e você chega e tem uma grade com uma corrente pra entrar na galeria sem ninguém visível pra te atender em horário noturno. Você custa a descobrir onde é a campainha e corre risco de ser roubada na porta na posse de malas e mochilas sem qualquer segurança. O segurança/porteiro tem uma tela com as câmeras e fica lá dentro fingindo de bobo mesmo te visualizando la fora com malas. Fiquei no quarto 516 Te hospedam no quinto andar e não tem elevador nesse local. Você vai até a recepção no quarto andar e tem que subir de escadas do 4° para o 5° andar e não tem sequer um funcionário que se disponibilize a levas as malas nas escadas. Não tem lâmpadas no teto. Só abajour com lâmpadas que deixam o quarto a meia luz e mal iluminado. Só o banheiro é iluminado. Não tem cabides nos guarda roupas. Não tem frigobar e não deixam sequer copos para que você possa beber a água que comprar no mercado, nem deixam talheres, o que entendo ser o mínimo que deveriam fazer já que nem um frigobar tem. As janelas não tem isolador acústico, e como fica em uma esquina com intenso trânsito na região central, chega um certo horário logo cedo, e no fim do horário comercial que o barulho incomoda e te acorda pelas manhãs (madrugadas).

Café da manhã simples, mas satisfatório. Sem abundância de frutas tropicais como no Brasil a exemplo de Melão, melancia, abacaxi, e mamão. Não tem suco natural de laranja. Apenas um suco muito doce de pêssego e copos de pêssego em calda. No mais: café, leite, achocolatado, sucrilhos, iogurte, mussarela, presunto, ricota, pães típicos e de forma, bolinho tipo cupcake. Fazem ovos mexidos se você pedir, assim como separam um lanche caso você peça com antecedência no dia que for sair para passeios antes do horário do café que é 7h:30min. As funcionárias são educadas e prestativas. Cheguei dia 04/8/2022 23h:30min e o atendente que se encontrava na recepção foi o único que me pareceu pouco cortez e ríspido pra não falar grosseiro...e vi que outras pessoas fizeram comentários parecidos sobre ele.

**Minha hospedagem foi vinculada a pacote Hurb, e pelo preço que paguei para 7 dias foi satisfatório pois o padrão é 3 estrelas, logo não se pode...

Stayed one night at the Santa Lucia Hotel. It is on the forth floor or a shopping mall. It has an interesting decor as you feel like you're walking into an office space when entering the reception area.

Our room faced the main street and was very noisy. You can hear every vehicle pass and most conversations on the street. The room itself is small and very basic.

The staff we very helpful and friendly. One member walked us to a restaurant recommendation. They held our luggage for us and assisted with transport needs.

Given the price I would consider it again however if staying multiple nights i would look for somewhere...
