This hotel looks absolutely lovely and is full of character…lots of original features and very unique. The other pluses are being located the airport side of town, absolutely spotless cleaning, very modern bathroom, good breakfast, nice to have a welcome drink, very responsive prior to stay over email.||The not so good started when we couldn’t locate our transfer organised by the hotel at the airport. Turns out she was waiting at the wrong terminal, ok fair enough. However when we met her we realised she was a very young girl (couldn’t have been older than 18, if that), not able to help lift luggage in the car, had dance music blaring which I had to request being turned off…and didn’t know where she was going. We literally drove around in circles a few times at one point. When we arrived at the destination (this hotel) she had to call someone to find out if she was there. Bearing in mind the transfer was organised by the hotel, they did not think any of the above was at all out of the ordinary…just didn’t care.||I called to reception to find out if there was a hairdryer in the room only to be told that there should be and, if there wasn’t, they didn’t have a spare available. No solution offered.||Weeks prior to arrival we requested if they could make a dinner reservation at a local restaurant for us. They said they had done so and we confirmed again when we checked-in. Upon locating the restaurant the following evening we found it to be closed up. When we called the hotel they simply wondered out loud why no one had thought to tell us the restaurant had informed them they are closed on Mondays. No apology or solution offered, leaving us to wander the streets of Santiago at night looking for somewhere to eat. ||There are some real positives to this hotel , however I could not in all honesty recommend staying there , unfortunately, due to the rather lack lustre approach to...
Read moreMatildas is a interesting hotel with big rooms, ceiling soaring up 5 meters or so, enormous bathrooms (without bathtub), at least the room 4, named Agustinas! It's installed in an old classic house with 3 floors! It's situated in downtown very close (walking) to La Moneda, Plaza de Armas and etc! A little bit more, maybe 30, 40 minutes you'll get Mercado Central, a touristic spot! There are some touristic restaurants nearby such Los Vikingos, Ocean Pacific (a puppy, because the mother house caught fire), besides bars such Cosmopolitan, The Clinic and go on! The buildings surrounding are old, some decadents and that could worry some people! But is safe enough, demanding you only think just you would think in any other city center around the world, except those one that are in conflict! The breakfast is good, but not a real buffet! You'll have a few options of each item and eggs you'll have to ask it! There is a backyard, but it's more beautiful on its website than in real life! It's nice but not gorgeous! Skippable! The way to getting the hotel is weird! You need to ring a bell to have the door opened! And, sometimes that could take a time! I didn't try the restaurant! In short, is a good option to stay close to the most part of landmarks in Santiago! But you'll have to use the subway to reach Sky Costanera, Arauco Mall and things like that! A last thing: as we're talking about an old place, the wooden floor is equally old and you'll make noise when you would be walking around your room! Weird...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about my stay at Hotel Mathilda in Chile. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, especially from the incredible women working at the front desk. Margarena, in particular, went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
I arrived feeling under the weather, and Margarena immediately recognized the situation. She and her team worked quickly to expedite the preparation of our room, allowing me to rest sooner than expected—a gesture I’ll never forget. She also gave my wife great recs on the city to explore. There’s a pharmacy and gas station across the street for convenience.
The front desk team also stepped in to help when we needed to exchange cash to pay for a pizza delivery. They made what could have been a hassle so simple, showcasing their readiness to assist guests with any issue, big or small.
The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, close to everything while still feeling very safe. Whether it’s the thoughtful staff, the cozy rooms, or the convenient setting, Hotel Mathilda has created a perfect haven for travelers. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Chile—thank you for such a memorable and...
