Hotel Cerro Castillo — Hotel in Viña del Mar

I have stayed here two different times two years apart. The owner of the hotel is usually there during the week and he has always been very kind to us. Once I needed some copies made and he offered help and would not accept my money for it. He went out of his way to help our group find a nice restaurant that fit our needs. The staff is always cordial and friendly. Some of he men wear a traditional bellman vest and tie. They are super helpful and carry your luggage up to your room. This is not a super fancy place but is very clean and modern. Rooms are small but nice. If you ask for double you will get two very small beds. If you want a queen size you should ask for "matrimonial" bedroom. They serve a traditional Chilean breakfast which consists of tea or coffee, bread, cold cuts, cheese, and fruit. We spent the night in this hotel after being evacuated from a luxury beach front hotel during the recent tsunami warning. This hotel is the safety point. They accommodated all of the displaced travelers in the large conference room, and served wine and snacks. We were fortunate to get a room there for the night to get some sleep. ||||The beds were clean. The room was very basic with one chair and 2 twin beds with a closet. But it was definitely good for getting a little rest. The room did have a portable small fan, which was enough to cool the room. La ubicación es excelente, muy cerca del Reloj de Flores y de la playa para salir a recorrer. De las habitaciones: A simple vista estaban limpias, pero el baño no tenía jabón líquido (había jabón en barra chiquitito) y la ducha no estaba bien limpia. Además, el cabezal de la ducha estaba en mal estado, por lo que filtraba el agua. Del desayuno: Se entiende que por pandemia debe estar todo envuelto en alusa (por protocolo?) pero aún así faltó más variedad. Faltó más dedicación, ya que en otros lados está la posibilidad de comer fruta, o yogur con cereal. Pero lo más impresentable fue que a pesar de que el horario de desayuno es de 9.00 a 11.00, cuando llegamos nosotros tipo 10.00, no había agua caliente en el termo. Nosotros mismos tuvimos que enchufarlo y prenderlo para calentar el agua , lo cual se demoró una eternidad ya que es de esos termos grandes. Finalmente, una de las niñas de la recepción nos terminó pasando un hervidor para calentar el agua más rápido. Siento que con eso se demostró la cero preocupación por parte del Hotel, todo en el comedor desenchufado, no había nadie, literal estábamos solos tratando de "arreglarnosla" para tomar desayuno (sin agua caliente). Ya habíamos venido antes de la pandemia y la verdad es que el servicio en general era mucho mejor, recuerdo los años mozos cuando en los desayunos estaba el comedor lleno de gente y habían personas atentas atendiendo, preguntando si necesitamos algo. Pero como dije, solo queda el recuerdo.

Espero que se tomen los comentarios para mejorar, ya que es una pena que tenga que escribir está reseña del Hotel siendo que teníamos buenos recuerdos.
