Pick this hotel due to the location, walking distance to the places we wanted to visit. The hotel is close to the underground but not all that close. We was going to get a taxi from the railway station but the queue was massive something like 100 people waiting. So we decided to get underground and then walk to the hotel, but it's a long way from the underground and also no taxi availability around that area so be prepared if your getting the underground, also the pavements are narrow and cobbled and not very good with a suitcase. The hotel room are alright but the bathroom are not very good setup as no doors and all glass,as maybe not suitable for everyone's taste.Need to pull the curtains every time for the toilet and shower, very irrietating, apart from that we never used any other facilities, just room for sleeping and out. Beijing is a massive place,be weary as we was given wrong information plenty of times by taxi drivers, even we speak Mandarin not English so it's not that they don't understand us or we don't understand them. Taxi drivers don't want to take us anywhere,as we do not know why..What ever the place we ask to be taken they would suggest other places. Please beware taxi don't like taking passengers as we ask to go local they say too short, then we pick longer trip then they say too long..I don't know..Lastly we booked taxi to railway station but refused last minute,so we try to flag one outside the hotel and taken us 45 minutes to get one due to most of them don't want to take you for some reason. Then if you pay them more money they will take you.For our trip it's usually 31 RMB but had to pay 100 RMB to get there. They try to con people so please be weary.I was glad we only had 4 night there but still not visit a few places we wanted as it was closed due to meeting in the area.Would not visit Beijing again due to the...
Read moreOnly in town for one night, I selected this hotel due to its proximity to The Forbidden City. Everything was very walkable and the location was super convenient. I wouldn't imagine trying to lodge here with a car though: there was no pull-up for dropping off luggage or passengers. Parking seemed to be non-existent.
Due to the room type I selected being unavailable, they upgraded me to their "best room." It was a really nice room, very spacious with two couches and a huge tub. Because of my status with the booking company I used, they said I had access to the mini-bar for free. There was some misunderstanding here, because what they meant was wet bar only. I opened some of the snacks left in the room and was charged for them. I'm not going to place blame solely on the hotel though, since there was a charge sheet next to the items. I should have double checked as to what exactly was free.
Even with the mini-bar mishap, the room was everything I needed it to be plus some. It had a great view of the main street outside where you could people watch and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff was fluent in English and called us a taxi when it was time to head to the airport. Their breakfast buffet was big and varied, but the price was steep. If you wake up early enough, I would recommend trying one of the places across the street that bring their breakfast selections outside onto the sidewalk. They looked amazing from the room, but we were a little too late waking up to partake.
If ever I find myself in Beijing again, I wouldn't hesitate to...
Read moreBeijing on the biz it was. According to the map it seems the main city center attractions are in walking distance during my very limited free time. So it was and also one of these western fast food chains was in walking distance, no need to negotiate with the taxi drivers. Arrived at PEK airport in the early morning, it´s absolutely necessary to have you´re hotel details written in Chinese letters to show it to the taxi drivers. They do not talk in English and can´t read western style. Expect roundabout 100.00 Yuan and do not accept any driver without a meter running.||Early at the hotel and early Check-In was ok, a real plus here. Step out of the hotel to the left there are just a good couple of meters to go for Tiananmen and the historic area around, to the right is more non-touristic and also a good number of restaurants. Room was spacious, also the bathroom, glass only between room and bathroom and it was clean for the first view, but not really everywhere when you go en detail. Everything from the fridge was free with my rate, one more plus here. Slept well, some noise from other hotel guests was to notice, but nothing really bad. No hotel breakfast according to my schedule for the next day, really nice staff during Check-Out also, later on back at Capital airport, taxameter cab only, roundabout the same fare. All in a recommendable place to stay with...
