We went as a group of 8 and ordered a lot of food as there was so much to choose from! We literally had to stop ourselves from selecting a few other dishes that we wanted to try.
The Peking Duck was really delicious at a very good price point! It came with a lot of sides and the chef sliced it up next to our table. The skin was crispy and tasted superb! The accompanying fried parts of the remnant bones and meat were crispy and salty, and the peppery soup was a nice touch too!
We also had a myriad of other dishes and the stand outs were the Mapo Tofu, the Prawns with Lychee and the Dongbo Rou. That really melted in our mouths! The Wine Flavoured Fish was also one of the must try dishes as its silky smooth and absolutely flavourful!
Some of the negatives were that we weren't offered a change of plates, didn't have tissues or paper towels provided and they didn't have big round tables that could seat 8 or 10 comfortably. It's set up more for small groups than large groups. It's a simple restaurant and their prices are very reasonable. It's a good place to have a meal to enjoy with your family...
Read moreFAVE MEAL IN BEIJING ! We found this place when i googled for Top Peking Duck in Beijing- amongst old favourites like Da Dong, Sija Minfu and Quanjude. However when Da Dong was closed the day after CNY, we walked 21 minutes to this fine establishment. It was 158 Yuan for a while duck with condiments. Much fairer price than the others. The duck was served with crispy skin off and came with pancakes, hoisin sauce, sugar, shallots and cucumber. The skin was perfectly crispy and decadent. We also ordered the salted egg sweet potato, jajiangmian (do not under any circumstance order this, very bland and not tasty), duck frame soup (MUST get, only extra 20 yuan for a massive cabbage and duck soup) and watermelon juice and corn juice (both very tasty and sweet). For two people, it was too much food but for under 260yuan or about 55Aud, it was incredible value. Service was also worth a mention as the staff were enthusiastic and friendly.
If I came back here I’d order the whole duck and frame...
Read moreRestaurant was just opposite our hotel. Very impressed with the quality of the food n services. Ordered one Peking duck which the chef will carve in front of you. Duck meat was juicy and crispy skin which melt in your mouth. It came with a plate of sushi with crispy duck skin and a basket of sesame bun (soft n fragrant) to eat with the slice duck meat. These 2 dishes were never serve in Michelin restaurant (which we tried n can compared the quality of food). We top up small amt to have the soup cooked from the roasted duck bones… the hot peppery soup was so good to have during the cold winter. Another amazing dish was the ‘rice with sweet n sour shrimps’… it turns out to be rice crackers with the sauce on it… very unique n delicious. We will come back to Beijing for this roast duck again in...
