So as I was trying to check into a hotel, I found myself alarmed by the lack of hospitality I received. As an American citizen that frequents hotels and truly enjoy the experience of a hotel, this place has truly let me down. So after a long day of searching for my passport because it was lost, I found myself in a discussion. I was asked to present my passport and visa. ||I did not book the room and thought that my copies of both documents would be enough. She asked me if she could see my visa with a stamp and the passport. I found both items and they were denied. I spoke to the general manager Olivia that also confirmed. She also told me that if I could provide the documents, they will let me in. After speaking with Olivia two times, I still was denied. Jessica refused me in because she claimed the police would check all the documents and the hotel may get into trouble. ||Jessica explained that she was going to call the police. The police arrived and verified the validity of my documents. Due to translation barriers, I found myself having a difficulty with the police. Although they confirmed my passport and visa, and confirmed the validity of my documents, Jessica still refused to allow me into the Beijing star world international hotel. This place is an utter disappointment. If you’re experiencing any last minute issues, please be sure to not attend this location. Just wanted to let...
Read moreThis is not a full service hotel, it provides 24 hrs reception, room, breakfast (ordered and served in-room), daily cleaning service and that’s it. Hence, I would see it more like a service apartment. In fact, if they changed their name from hotel to service apartment, it would be more apt and would actually adjust customers’ expectation to their advantage.|The rooms are all new (the hotel only opened its doors in 2016), and rather well maintained, and the hotel reception staff are generally welcoming and helpful (but they don’t speak English that well so if you only spoke English, you gotta exercise a little more patience).|Location is superb if u liked to be around Sanlitun (ard 10min walk). In fact, there are already bars opposite and downstairs of hotel (though they don’t belong to the hotel). To top it up, there’s a minimart just across the road so very convenient.|Only two suggestions, 1) housekeeping standard needs to be more consistent, some parts of the room were dusty, and 2) hot water in the bathroom was slightly difficult to adjust but this is less of an issue than...
Read moreStaff charged me for another guests booking and then tried to fight me on it by sending me copies of the original guests private information. They refused to admit they were wrong until I made further complaints with the booking company then suddenly us was “a mistake”.
I also had a a domestic dispute with a guest of mine in the lobby and asked them to get security, I understand language differences but every language sounds the same when distressed. The receptionist just ignored me playing on her phone despite me asking several times. I was then physically asaulted and the receptionist still didn’t step into help.
They have been trying to protect this man, who was not a paying guest as I was, and I truely believe after spending time in China it’s because I’m a westen female and he’s Chinese man, as was pointed out.
I also had someone harass me outside and try follow me in to which door security didn’t do anything about it.
Not a safe...
